Today was a beautiful ride, and we’re feeling incredibly proud, happy, and grateful.

Kali Steak was recently featured in Eater LA, and we’re deeply thankful to Eater LA and its entire team—especially Matthew Kang, who has supported our concepts throughout the years.

We feel truly blessed to continue owning and operating in this city through thick and thin. Los Angeles has given us so much, and we love this city deeply. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, shown us love, and continued to believe in our team over the years.

More than a year ago, we made the conscious decision to move away from our tasting-menu format and introduce a California-inspired, chef-driven menu. We knew it would be a significant risk, but we also recognized that the previous concept had run its course. We wanted to create a restaurant that felt more accessible to everyone during these challenging and changing times.

The transition to a steakhouse was especially meaningful to me. Steakhouses have always been my favorite type of restaurant when I’m not working—I love finding myself in dark, classic steakhouses throughout the city. That passion has always been there, so this evolution felt like a natural one. We’re incredibly grateful to see that the change has resonated with our guests and the industry, including recognition from the Michelin Guide and other respected publications.

Today we’re celebrating Drew’s 50th birthday! Please join us in wishing him the very best and hoping he enjoys the day of a lifetime.

Drew has been part of the hospitality world since high school, pouring w**e and taking care of guests at some of the country’s top restaurants for more than 25 years. Whether he’s running the restaurant, putting out fires, or making sure every guest feels welcome, Drew is always at the heart of the action.

He’s also passionate about cycling, spending time in nature, drum and bass music, and enjoying a great crab dinner. As the first person you see when you walk through the restaurant—and the last person to say thank you—Drew brings warmth, energy, and hospitality to everything he does.

Let’s give Drew a huge round of applause and wish him a very happy 50th birthday!

We are incredibly proud and grateful to participate once again in Alex’s Lemonade Stand LA Loves Alex's Lemonade culinary charity event in Los Angeles—marking our 10th consecutive year of supporting this extraordinary organization.

At Kali Restaurant, Chef Kevin Meehan and our entire team are honored to stand alongside some of Los Angeles’ finest chefs to raise funds for childhood cancer research. Bringing people together through food is a powerful and positive way to give back, and we are proud to use our talents to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and its mission to help find a cure.

This year is especially meaningful for our family. Chef Kevin’s beautiful twin daughters are taking the torch from Chef Suzanne Goin’s Suzanne Goin twins, who led this important effort for more than a decade. They are beginning their own journey helping lead the kids campaign in Los Angeles and raising money alongside their father and the many chefs and families who continue to support this cause.

Chef Kevin is honored and deeply grateful to represent Kali Restaurant in Los Angeles as a proud Culinary Council for Ment’or

Traveling to New Orleans to support Team USA at the Americas selection was an incredible experience. Team USA delivered an exceptional performance, earning the Gold Medal and finishing first in their class—a tremendous accomplishment on the road to the Bocuse d’Or in Lyon in January 2027

The event was filled with energy, talent, and a shared commitment to excellence. It was inspiring to see so many young, ambitious chefs surrounded by the guidance and support of some of the country’s most accomplished culinary leaders.

Congratulations to Team USA, the coaches, mentors, and everyone who helped make this result possible. I am extremely proud to support this team and look forward to following their journey to Lyon.
