Dining Through The Odyssey: Part 2 of 4 - Even Gods Have to Eat!

Mythology tells us that the Greek gods on Mt. Olympus were sustained by ambrosia and nectar which granted youth and immortality. At Spice Odyssey Grill, we like to turn up the flavor and heat a notch! What do you think the gods would order from our menu?

Athena - Flaming Saganaki.
Athena is the goddess of wisdom, strategic warfare, and the fiery passion of victory. She protects and advises Odysseus and encourages Telemachus to become more confident. She is powerful because she thinks before she strikes. Like Athena, our flaming saganaki makes a dramatic, larger than life entrance - a flash of fire and everyone immediately pays attention. It has Athena’s power and presence.

Poseidon - Vindaloo (especially shrimp).
Poseidon is the god of the sea and Odysseus’s greatest divine enemy. After Odysseus blinds Poseidon’s son, the Cyclops, Poseidon turns the sea itself against him. Shrimp Vindaloo offers enough heat and fury to summon a storm. While it can be ordered mild or medium as well, we recommend a spice level of “wrath of the gods.”

Circe - Biryani with Gyro meat.
Circe is the powerful sorceress goddess who transforms members of Odysseus’s crew into animals. She is dangerous, intelligent, mysterious and known for her magical use of herbs and potions. Like her, our gyro biryani isa layered, deep, and completely transformative spice experience. One taste and you may not be quite the same afterward.

Dining Through The Odyssey: Part 1 of 4…Heroes of Ithaca

How do your favorites compare to what the heroes of the Odyssey would order at Spice Odyssey Grill?

Odysseus: Classic Lamb Gyro.
The clever, resourceful King of Ithaca is trying to get home after ten years at war—and his return journey takes another ten years. He survives through determination, strategy and occasionally talking himself into even more trouble. No matter how far Odysseus wanders, he is always trying to return to the classics. A lamb gyro is familiar, satisfying and unmistakably Greek—exactly what you’d want after ten years lost at sea.

Penelope - Dolmades.
Penelope is Odysseus’s wife and Queen of Ithaca. She spends years protecting their home and resisting men who want to replace her missing husband. She is every bit as clever as Odysseus, famously using a weaving trick to delay choosing a new husband. She embodies patience and quiet strength. which make her a perfect match for dolamades because they are carefully wrapped, deceptively intricate and require patience!

Telemachus - Chicken Souvlaki.
Telemachus is the son of Odysseus and Penelope. His story is about leaving boyhood behind, searching for his father and finding the courage to defend his family. Telemachus would crave chicken souvlaki—straightforward and heroic, but still developing into something formidable. It is also approachable for guests who are beginning their own Greek-food journey.

This winning masterpiece features two layers of moist red velvet cake with a layer of rich New York–style red cheesecake in the middle, all wrapped in silky cream cheese mousse and encased in red velvet cake crumbs.
