Smokin the Good Stuff

We hitched a ride to Canton Ga this weekend for the American Legion Post 45 Red White and Blue BBQ sponsored by the Veterans of Cherokee County Georgia raising money for the Cherokee county Homeless Veteran Program and Veteran Su***de Awareness
We had a good showing finishing 1st in loin, 1st in ribs, tied for 6th in pork and lost tie breaker for 7th and took GRAND CHAMPION!!!
Congratulations to Off the Chain on RGC and to all the other teams that got their names called!
Jim Lindenmayer, Commander Raymond Rollins and all the crew at the Legion pulled off a great event despite the weather. The Flag raising ceremony and the program to honor the 13 Veterans who gave their lives in Afghanistan at the Kabul airport was very emotional. The breakfast for the teams was great and much appreciated!

Well a little late posting but we hitched a ride down to Griffin Ga two weeks ago for the Doc Holliday BBQ Championship http://dochollidayfest.com/
We had a good showing finishing 1st in loin, 9th in pork, 10th in brisket, 13th in ribs for 6th overall.
Congratulations to Off the Chain on Grand, Bayshore Porkers on RGC , Flying Pig on Ga Brisket Championship and to all the other teams that got their names called!

Will Doss and crew from Eagles Way Church hosted a great contest, they put the work in and it shows! The City of Griffin really stepped up with infrastructure for the teams and is one of our favorite venues!

Barnesville BBQ and Blues Festival in the books.
First GBA of the year, first GBA for Barnesville, great location, great people, we cant wait to go back next year!
We made finals in loin for the 6th straight contest, had another good loin in finals that took 1st place!
Our loin scored high enough in finals for us to take home GRAND CHAMPION!
Congratulations to Rescue Smokers on a great cook and Reserve Grand and all the other teams that got calls! Sorry if we didnt get to congratulate everyone in person, it was a long haul from the lower 40 lol!

Emotional weekend in Fort Valley GA at the GBA Smoke in the Valley event. First competition since the covid shut down in March and first one without our teammate Fred Greaves. It was great to see everybody and share memories of Fred. The GBA gave us a plaque in memory of Fred and held a moment of silence for him at the awards. The support from our bbq family was greatly appreciated!

As far as the comp goes we tied for 1st in loin in the preliminary round and finished 3rd in finals. We forgot how to cook pork and ribs and finished in the middle of the pack with 7th overall.
Congratulations to Hot Ash Q on Grand and Flying Pigs on Reserve and every other team that got their name called!

The GBA did a great job as always!
Chris Smith was a great host and we cant wait to go back to the valley next year!

We lost a dear friend and teammate yesterday. Fred Greaves was a huge part of our team and part of our family and will be missed dearly. Fred served our great country in the Army for 20 years and most recently loved driving a school bus for Breman school system. Fred was loved by many. Rest in peace brother..

Well, no competition for us this weekend so a little family time. Ribs and pulled pork with all the fixins. Our first contest since March is scheduled this month so we needed a little practice run!

Our competition this weekend in Cartersville was canceled.

The good news:

Went ahead and smoked the butts and loins we thawed out and delivered them to two of our local fire stations!
