What makes paella, paella?

It starts with the wide, shallow pan that gives the dish its name. The rice cooks in a thin layer, soaking up flavorful stock while developing one of paella’s most prized features: socarrat, the crisp, toasted rice at the bottom.

Traditionally associated with Valencia, paella can include everything from chicken and rabbit to seafood. Chef Alexis/s paella will feature mussels, shrimp, and chorizo, bringing together rich, smoky, briny flavors with the saffron-seasoned rice at the heart of the dish.

Great food and w**e experiences should not always require a trip out of town.

With A Taste of Spain, we are excited to bring something a little different to Hillsdale. From jamón ibérico to paella, and five Spanish w**es along the way, it is an opportunity to enjoy the flavors of Spain without going far from home. September 26th at 4:30, 6:30, or 8:30.

And this is only the beginning! We look forward to offering more culinary experiences inspired by countries and regions from around the world in the future.
