I had a wonderful day with all my vegan friends at hazzard free grains and seed ! Thank you, Andy, for showing us around your beautiful farm. I think it's safe to say that everyone loved it. I made focaccia bread with Andy's Marquis wheat and also oatmeal raisin cookies with her rolled oats. Marie | Gigglemug Baking made a super moist and soft rye bread that we all enjoyed. 𝓒𝓱𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓮 and timaych took lots of pictures and they were kind enough to share them with me. I brought with me 75+ pounds of Marquis wheat berries to make delicious bread and other things. This is not the last time we visit Hazzard farms and we are all super excited to go back soon! Would you wanna go? We can make a whole day out of it! Pig Minds Brewing - Rockford IL is only a few miles away! With that said, thank you Andy, for welcoming us to your farm! Thank you also to everyone that came! You know who you are! 🙏🏾🍞😎

Hola friends!

I just wanna thank everyone in Madison, Wisconsin for all your support! We brought the whole store and came back to the shop basically empty-handed. We appreciate you! Thank you to the organizers at Madison Vegan Fest and also to my friend Becky, who helps out and also organizes VeganMania Milwaukee & Milwaukee Vegan Pop-Up . We'll be back in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in December for a holiday pop-up! HUMONGOUS gratitude to my mother Blanca Vega Gámez and my good friend Carmen Suárez • Cocina Vegetal part of maiztify for the big help this weekend. We had to close the shop this Saturday and Sunday because we basically ran out of inventory. We apologize for any inconvenience. We're a small team! It was great to see all my Wisconsin friends! You know who you are! Thank you! I got a delicious and horchata cotton candy the size of my head 🤣 from Lily's Magical Treats which was delicious!

Next Sunday we're going to hazzard free grains and seed
farms in Pecatonica, IL! If you wanna come meet us there at 11AM! See you at the shop and please remember to call ahead for any orders! This ain't Walmart! 🙏🏾🍞❤️

Hola friends! 👋🏾😄🍞

I have a couple announcements to make!

🍞 First, on Saturday, August 8th, my friends from Libby's Corner will be popping at the shop from 11AM-3PM! Come get Chicago's best vegan soul food!

🍞 The very next day, Sunday, August 9th, I'll be popping at Emporium Arcade Bar in Logan Square location with our friends from Chicago Vegan Test Kitchen from 12PM-4PM! I'll have all your favorite vegan baked goods and all the cake slices and tres leches cups!

🍞On Sunday, August 16th, find me at Solemn Oath Brewery in Naperville with our friends from Vegan in the Burbs Market from 12PM-3PM!

🍞Then on Saturday, August 29th, at the shop, I will be collaborating with a new business that will be launching soon out of Lincoln Square area. We will do a post together with more exciting details. All I can say is that this new business has earned the Chunky seal of approval 🍞!

Lastly, I want to congratulate Joseph and his soon to be wife on their engagement! I am humbled as they picked me to do their engagement cake! The cake itself has ube flavor and it's filled with 2 delicious layers of homemade mango cream cheeze, and topped with my own crumbled cookies and homemade dark chocolate sea turtles. The theme of the cake was the sea & the beach and sea turtles reaching for it. Congratulations! 🥳🍰

I have a couple events coming up so I'd like to announce where I'll be popping up soon:

1. 🍞Saturday, July 18th, I'll be at Soundgrowler Brewing brewery with our friends from Vegan in the Burbs Market from 12PM-4PM. I'll bring everyone's favorite items like sourdough conchas and tres leches cups.🍞

2. 🍞Sunday, July 19th, find me at Emporium Chicago Logan Square location with Chicago Vegan Test Kitchen . I'll also bring everyone's favorite items like sourdough cinnamon rolls, conchas, and ALL the cake!🍞

3. 🍞Last but not least, on Saturday, July 25th, from 12PM-6PM find me Diane Mejia/Mindful Baking for a fun pop-up along with other amazing vendors.🍞

Also, check out this custom 6 layer, cookies and cream cake I made for a loyal customer of mine. Thank you Juan! Happy birthday Jazmin! 🥳🎂

Lastly, please take notice that we changed our hours recently so we are CLOSED on Mondays and Tuesdays. We are open Wednesday to Saturday from 11AM-6PM. Sundays we are open from 11AM-4PM. If you want a cake, pizza, bread or anything else please call ahead! Thank you for your constant support. It is much appreciated! 🙏🏾🥲🍞🙌🏾

¡Hola amigos! 😎🍞

What a weekend! I had the honor to participate at 's 40th year celebration in my beloved Chicago at this past Saturday. I was also part of the panel they had to discuss veganism today. I aml grateful that I was able to share some discussions with OG vegans like and . We've come such a long way and while things may look dark right now, I do see a lot of light in all the different local and diverse communities that we have. It was so great to see many people that I've known for years and also people I've met in the past year or so. We have a great community of vegans here in Chicago and the Midwest. So THANK YOU to everyone that made it to the event for Farm Sanctuary and thank for your support of this small chunky business we call The Chunky Scones. Thank you for inviting me and thank you to all the participants as well. Most of the photos are courtesy of ! Thank you, sir!

Last but not least, JOIN US in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, next Sunday, June 14th, from 11AM-4PM for Milwaukee Veganmania! Over 75+ vendors will be there with ALL the VEGAN goods! The event is COMPLETELY FREE to attend . Bring water and picnic gear and enjoy the event with all of us!

THE SHOP WILL BE CLOSED SUNDAY 6/14/26 because we will be there at the Veganmania in Milwaukee. If you need anything please stop by SATURDAY 6/13/26.

Hola amigos y amigas.

I meant to post about such a good time we had at in Madison, Wisconsin, at last Saturday but life got in the way. THANK YOU so much Beth and the rest of organizers, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, attendees, friends, and everyone else that made it possible.

The reason why I wasn't able to post anything is because I lost my best friend last Tuesday, May 19th. I wasn't planning to share this here but right after I became vegan in 2011 we adopted Apollo from back in January of that same year. I guess as vegans we often say to non vegans, make the connection. All animals have different personalities and individualities. Apollo was no exception. He was bilingual, could understand English and Spanish, fetch the Frisbee or stick and bring it back to you and he was the most loyal companion guardian I have ever known. If you wanna experience and see how all animals are able to FEEL and experience the world, I recommend visiting a sanctuary like or so that you see first hand how animals have more in common with us than we give them credit for. They are able to feel, play, communicate in their own way, and most importantly, are able to suffer. When I got Apollo out from CACC, you could see his ribcages, he had an injured nose, and he was missing some of his fur by his tail. When I saw him the 1st time, he barked at me and as he jumped we connected. When I got him out, he got healthy and became part of my family. While he was with me, we had many adventures together. We went to Orlando and sailed on a boat, got into the Atlantic Ocean in Daytona, we went to Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Big Sky Montana and also Yellowstone. We also went to Mount Hood in Oregon and I'm glad we did. If you love animals, then I would invite you to consider veganism as a lifestyle.

Having said all that, I am honored to be part of 40th anniversary at next Saturday, June 6th from 3PM-6PM. Please join us if you wanna learn more about veganism and what we're all about.

Special thanks to my Chicago Vegan Society (CVS pharmacy ) people who always show up to support and also to for hosting us!

Last but not least, thank you to my family ❤️ because without them I would not be able to do these events that require a lot of effort to put together!

Thank you to everyone that came to at yesterday in Naperville. We had a blast!

¡Hola amigos!

Chunky Palooza is just around the corner! It is all happening this coming Saturday, May 16th, from 10AM-3PM, at located at 1957 Sheridan Rd, in Highland Park, Illinois, 60035!

This is a family friendly VEGAN event where we all celebrate veganism with all of our communities! Expect LOTS of delicious food, vegan beauty products, arts and crafts from local vendors!

Come experience veganism is all about with us! We'll have good food, music, and lots of art! There is plenty of parking on the surrounding streets to The Art Center and the Public Parking Lot is like a block away so that should not be an issue.
If you're using public transportation, the Metra Highland Park stop is 2 blocks away so that should not be an issue either!

We really hope to see many, many, many of you there! THIS EVENT IS COMPLETELY FREE TO ATTEND!
We only ask that you support all of our hard working vendors!
