Yesterday’s Friday Food Distribution was fantastic. Our community families enjoy the shopping experience of selecting items for their homes, which is why the line often extends down the sidewalk.
Our main food pantry, the largest in the area, operates primarily as an emergency resource. To access a wider variety of food and choose your own items—rather than just receiving a pre-packed bag of canned goods—you can call ☎️ 386-454-8493. We offer many items that allow you to prepare complete meals.
The purpose of the pantry is to assist local families facing urgent food needs. We want to clarify that it is not intended for families to visit every this many weeks to pick out what they want. We serve a large number of families, so it’s not feasible for the same families to come regularly and consistently, as there isn’t enough food to support that, when you serve hundreds of families. We receive just one food truck each month, and the food must last throughout the entire month until the next delivery.
However, Friday food distributions are open to everyone and are walk-in events. The hundreds of items we provide each week typically come from store pickups at the end of the week, mainly from Walmart, Winn Dixie, Publix, and other stores. The offerings mostly include produce, breads, and desserts, but occasionally we also have cold items such as milk, salads, heat-and-eat meals, meats, and other dairy products. The selection varies depending on what we receive.
Additionally, when financial donations permit, Pastor Joy approves the purchase of essentials like laundry detergent, toilet paper, and other necessities that families require. When you visit on Fridays, you never know exactly what will be available, which is part of the blessing for those who come regularly—they often find surprises.
We invite you to join us next Friday! Please note that the times have changed; previous flyers should be checked for the updated schedule. There are designated times for seniors, families with children (children must be present), and others.
Our Resource Center Manager, Mrs. Staci M. Clemons & her assistant, Ms. Tajh White, are doing a wonderful job, & it wouldn’t be possible without our amazing volunteers, who have remained steadfast & unmovable, & the partner agencies that help make sure we have what we need. Walmart, High Springs Winn-Dixie, Publix, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank, Feeding Northeast FL & Children's Trust of Alachua County. ❤️
