To all our friends, family and customers. It is with regret to announce that Iron Barley's High Hog Ridge will not be reopening.
As a family we have tried so many different scenarios looking at what the future would be. What if, what if, and the same answer was always:"How do you continue the dream when the biggest part of that dream is longer with us".

With that being said, we are proud to announce that the building has been sold and will be home to a new restaurant, Johnny's Hideout. Stop by and introduce yourself or give them a call the phone number will be the same as before.

We would like to thank you for your support, generosity and especially your friendship.

Today at Iron Barley's High Hog Ridge we all worked together on assembling baskets we will be raffling. Family, staff, former staff, friends of the family, Tom's BBQ team members (and competitor's), musician's...basically a motley crew of the Iron Barley Family Tom & Gen created.
I AM HAPPY AND OVERWHELMED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THERE WILL BE WELL OVER 70 BASKETS AND ITEMS TO BE RAFFLED AT TOM'S CELEBRATION OF LIFE! I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY THE OUTPOURING OF DONATIONS I CAN'T BEGIN TO THANK PEOPLE FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND GENEROSITY FOR FEAR OF LEAVING SOMEONE OUT.
We will be posting photos of an array of the amazing baskets donated and fabulous items tomorrow morning...including a Weber Grill, a Guinness (of course) Standing Bar Table-Topper, a Children's Electric Jeep, a Tool Box AND a Television! Basket tickets will be $5 a piece or 5 tickets for $20. Large item tickets are $10 a piece...bring your cash and bring your luck!

In order to alleviate parking problems there will be a PASSENGER VAN SHUTTLE TOMORROW FROM TWO LOCATIONS THAT CAN BE USED FOR PARKING! Parking at The Celebration of Life for Tom Coghill tomorrow at Iron Barley's High Hog Ridge is going to be alleviated by the generous offer by the Jefferson County Library Central Service Office for use of their parking lot (located at 5678 Missouri PP, High Ridge, MO. -Just off of PP and Gravois/30) which is approximately a 15 minute walk to Iron Barley. The parking lot at St. Martin United Church (located at 3229 High Ridge Blvd, High Ridge, MO is also available for parking after 11am) This is approximately a six minute walk to Iron Barley. YOU CAN WALK OR RIDE THE SHUTTLE THAT WILL BE MAKING DROP OFFS AND PICK-UPS EVERY HALF-HOUR, STARTING AT 11am. The Pick-Up Spot Will Be Clearly Marked. Please Be Patient If Lines Form At Either Location...USE OF THE VAN HAS BEEN GENEROUSLY OFFERED BY Hwy 61 Roadhouse & Kitchen AND DRIVERS ARE VOLUNTEERING THEIR TIME. Be Kind.

-This is Heather Lauby, some of you may know me from the restaurant, and through Tom and Gen. I’m so blessed to have had God put them and Iron Barley's High Hog Ridge in my life.
I’ve been posting on this page for years as an admin, but this is the first time I’ve posted as myself. I have absolutely loved making flyers and posters and event pages for Tom and Gen. But this is the most important post I’ve ever shared.
Please take the time to read it, donate if you can and pass it on…and most importantly, as I learned when I woke up Friday morning after leaving work Thursday night with a quick wave and goodbye…tell the people close to you that you love them while you have the chance.

By now, I’m sure you all know of Tom Coghill’s passing on Friday morning, the 11th of March. He died peacefully in his sleep.
Tom leaves behind his wife Gen, his three sons, Thomas, Charlie & Patrick, his grandson Henry, his five sisters, Ann, Cissy, Carolyn, Janie & Susan.

Gen would like to tell you all a love-story:
Tom and I were together since 1983 and we got married in 1987. We had our three sons, and I can’t even begin to tell you how proud he was of his sons. When he would talk about them, he stood taller, smiled broader and I think even his chest got bigger.
We opened Iron Barley in May of 2003, and so it began…The True Love Story and passion he had for cooking. For making people happy. For always giving to others. And he was always so humble in doing so. There are so many people here we have touched, and so many to call a friend. I’m thankful for you all and for all the messages that you have sent me. We always had so many obstacles to jump through, but together as a family and with all your support we always made it through. Thank you.
To our second family, our staff…You’ve always been there for us, no matter what what we asked of you, how many hours you had to work. We love you all and are proud to call you family. I love you all.

We welcome you all to come to Tom’s visitation on Friday, March 18th at Kutis Funeral Home, in Affton from 10am-2pm, with service following immediately after.

We will celebrate his life on Sunday, March 20th at Iron Barley’s High Hog Ridge from 11am-6pm. We understand if you can’t make it. But have a glass of Guinness, raise it high and cheers to Tom! We will meet again.
