Nestled in Downtown High Bridge, New Jersey, Scout's believes that good coffee and good food are the cornerstone for a good life. We serve locally roasted coffees, organic and healthfully crafted food, and provide an escape from the busy-life for friends near and far. The mercantile offers guests a selection of handmade greeting cards and locally themed gift items along with some basic supplies for a day out on the Columbia Trail. Scout's is located just footsteps away from the trail head for the scenic Columbia Trail. Enjoy the waterfalls, Ken Lockwood Gorge, bike ride out to Long Valley's aromatic woods and make a day of it. We'll be there from the start of your day with fresh made croissants, until the end with a refreshing cold drink and a sandwich.

A little late recap on the trip McKenna and I took back in September to Minneapolis to Raise The Bar. We met so many incredible coffee people with inspiring and encouraging stories surrounding roasting and running a café. From maintenance workshops, hospitality, operations, crafting espresso and pour-overs. The entire event was packed with education and sharing.

It was all fun and games until our flight home was cancelled for a day because of the airport shutdown at Newark 😜

Stopped at this amazing vinyl & coffee shop called Disco Death Records where they had a lever espresso machine and the coolest baristas

We had the pleasure of hosting Jazz in the Parlor all weekend. Zack Hann, Solomon Gottfried, Connor Parks performed 2 sets Friday night. And Mahmoud Chouki played Saturday night and was joined by Zack Hann for a few songs.

Mahmoud is teaching this year at Lafayette College in Easton visiting from New Orleans and originally from Morocco. In 2023 I met Mahmoud on a visit to New Orleans. So when my friends Chris and Leslie announced they were hosting him to perform at their home I volunteered Scout’s as a backup venue with the secret hopes they’d need to take me up on my offer(and they did!). I admire Mahmoud as an artist concerned with engaging with the audience to create a transcendent experience. He shares his roots in North African jazz and you can feel how that intersects with his love for New Orleans.
Nights like this feel magical when they’re filled with friends connecting through music, dancing, our laughter and the food we share. I am so happy my secret hope came to reality, it’s meaningful to have built relationships in this place where events like this are possible. Thank you if you joined us for one or all of the shows.
