HAVE YOU SEEN THE CASTLE HOUSE ON LAKE HICKORY?!?!
If you’ve ever spent time on Lake Hickory, chances are you’re familiar with one of the lake’s most recognizable homes — the Castle House, located where the main channel and Gunpowder meet.
But while you may recognize it from the water, you might not know the story behind it!
We recently had the opportunity to visit with the Kinights, the owners of the Castle House, and learn a little more about this unique Lake Hickory landmark. We thought we’d share a few fun facts!
- Before the Castle House, a small family cabin sat on the property (pictured below).
- In 2001, the Knights tore down the original cabin and built what we now know as the Castle House. And with a last name like Knight, a castle seems pretty fitting!
- The home is approximately 4,400 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- It features a soaking pool, approximately 220 feet of shoreline, and an incredible rooftop patio overlooking Lake Hickory.
- Their backgrounds are in both furniture and restaurant ownership, and their creativity and eye for detail can certainly be seen throughout their one-of-a-kind home.
- The Knights built the Castle House as their retirement home, and as you can see from the photos, they’ve done an amazing job decorating it and adding special touches throughout the years.
We love learning more about the homes, landmarks, and people that make Lake Hickory such a special place. A big thank you to the Knight’s for welcoming us and sharing the story behind a house that so many of us have admired from the water for years!
Be sure if you see them in their backyard when you are on Lake Hickory to wave and say hello.
