Here at Barley Market, we support both hobbies.

Grab a book from our little library, grab a $4 mimosa, and settle into the kind of Sunday where you swear you’ll read three chapters... but somehow end up rereading the same paragraph six times.

No book reports. No deadlines. No judgment.

MEET THE STAFF: MIKE

You may know Mike as one of our bartenders.

Based on this photo, however, you probably assume he’s a Disney villain who stole a monkey from a traveling circus.

When asked for a staff photo, Mike somehow found the only picture in existence where he looks like he’s negotiating a business merger between humans and primates.

The scary part? The monkey actually looks more comfortable than most of our customers after Mike starts explaining August Burns Red lyrics.

By day, Mike is a teacher.

By night, Mike serves beer and tells stories that somehow start with, “So there I was...” and end 20 minutes later with absolutely nobody remembering what the original point was.

Fun fact: We can’t confirm whether Mike adopted the monkey or if the monkey adopted Mike. Judging by the matching facial expressions, they’ve clearly been hanging out for a while.

Catch Mike behind the bar this week. If he shows up with any more exotic animals, we’re officially turning Barley into a petting zoo and charging admission. 🐒🍺🍻

We’d like to formally address the video currently circulating of Jeremy making out with a beer can.

First, we’d appreciate everyone respecting his privacy during this exciting new chapter.

Second, before anyone asks, yes... it’s a brewery he just discovered this week.

Jeremy insists their relationship is built on mutual respect, shared interests, and an aggressively hopped IPA portfolio.

Friends and family have expressed concern, but this isn’t the first time he’s fallen head over heels for a new brewery. History suggests he’ll be in love until approximately next Thursday when another beer delivery arrives.

Until then, please refrain from judging. Love comes in many forms.

Some people find it in another person.

🚧 BACK DOOR UPDATE 🚧

Before anyone says it: no, we are not making Libby the butt of this joke.

After a rough Thursday last week , we’re happy to report that our back door has made a full recovery and is ready for action once again. Doctors are calling it a miracle. Physical therapy was tough, but it persevered.

TODAY ONLY: the front door is unavailable, so you’ll need to come in through the back door. We know that’s not everyone’s first choice, but sometimes life presents opportunities for growth.

Libby has volunteered to demonstrate proper back door entry techniques in the photo below. We appreciate her bravery and professionalism during this difficult time.

Again, today is the ONLY day you won’t be able to use the front door. Tomorrow we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled entrances.

No, Barley Market has not been transformed into a Lowe’s training facility.

WE. ARE. OPEN.

The city is hard at work making downtown prettier, but behind the cones, caution tape, and general appearance of a minor archaeological dig, there is still cold beer waiting for you.

Think of it as a quest:

* Dodge a cone.
* Navigate around a wheelbarrow.
* Ignore the overwhelming urge to turn around.
* Reach the promised land.
