National music acts are planned to return to HerrinFesta Italiana in 2027.
Festival organizers and Dunbar Music Group announced a signed, one-year agreement Friday afternoon to bring ticketed concerts back behind the Herrin Civic Center.
No performers have been announced yet. At least some concert announcements are expected before the end of the year, with organizers hoping to have tickets available for Christmas gifts.
Cody Dunbar said the goal is four nights featuring country, Christian, rock and classic rock music, with acts each night. Organizers are considering two ticket tiers and hope to offer the lower-priced option starting around $25 per show. Prices and concert plans are not final.
“We want to make this very affordable,” Dunbar said.
Festival co-chair Joey Helleny said a new asphalt surface behind the civic center helped make the return possible.
“We’ll be moving our concerts back behind the civic center again, where they used to be,” Helleny said.
Dunbar, who grew up in Herrin, said he hopes the concerts will bring more visitors to the festival and boost business for area restaurants, hotels and shops.
“It’s good to get back to Herrin, where I have my roots,” he said.
Stay tuned for more information and a full story on the announcement in next weeks’s edition of The Herrin Independent.
