🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – EAST OAK GROVE ROAD 🚧

Beginning Wednesday, September 23 at 12:00 PM, East Oak Grove Road will be closed to through traffic between Salina Cove and Wren Street due to a culvert replacement project.

The roadway will remain closed until the project is completed and the area can be safely reopened to traffic.

📍 The map below shows the location of the closure.

Motorists should plan an alternate route and use caution around the work area.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as City of Hernando Public Works completes this infrastructure improvement.

Updates will be provided if the schedule changes or when the roadway is reopened.

As many of you may have heard, a second McDonald's location is currently under discussion. It has not been approved yet. That doesn’t mean it won’t be approved or isn’t happening, but it is not a foregone conclusion, as some are suggesting on social media.

On August 11th, the planning commission tabled PL-1986, the proposal for the new McDonald’s. Simply put, we were concerned about how it would function so close to the new roundabout.

On September 8th, PL-1986 came back with some needed improvements, but in my opinion, still not enough. My main concern is how its proximity to an already difficult-to-maneuver roundabout will function.

In summary, what happened at the planning meeting on 9/8. It took four motions to get a decision.

Vote 1: to deny PL-1986, which failed.

Vote 2: to approve PL-1986, which failed.

Vote 3: My Motion: table until more improvements are made. That failed.

Vote 4: to deny, which passed. Now it’s up to the board of aldermen. They will consider it on 9/15.

Some interesting new came from last night's Hernando Alderman meeting. A representative from Wings came to announce that our Wal-Mart is getting drone delivery. Not sure of the time line or how I feel about it. The drone's can only deliver up to 2.5 pounds and a total distance round trip of 12 miles.
