Baked fresh each morning. Before the doors open and the first cup of coffee is poured, layers of buttery dough are folded, rolled and worked by hand.

Behind it all is our pastry chef, Leah. In while the town is still quiet, hands in the dough, ovens warming, making sure that by the time you walk through our doors, something fresh is waiting behind the glass.

Fresh pastries available Tuesday through Saturday.

Introducing the two newest drinks on the menu:

• The Rancher: coffee whiskey, heavy cream, chocolate sauce + caramel sauce

Somewhere in Hempstead tonight, a pantry shelf is going empty. You can help fill it before you finish your meal.

House of Help has lent a hand to our community since 2012 through their food pantry and thrift store, groceries, clothing, the things that matter when times get tight.

Right now, what they need most is protein, one of the pantry’s biggest and most expensive needs.

We couldn’t ask for a better team.

There’s a feeling we’ve always wanted Citizens to have. The kind of thing you can’t write on a menu or teach from a recipe.

And if you trace that feeling back, past the food, past the table, past the last bite, you’ll find a person.

So when we hear you talk about how much you love our staff, we can’t help but be proud.

We didn’t get lucky with a team like this.

We built it on the belief that people who feel valued in the back of the house will make you feel valued in the front of it.

That cared-for people care for people.

And somewhere between walking through our doors and getting up from the table, we hope that belief makes its way to you.
