Breast cancer is personal to so many of us. 💗
It touches mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, grandmothers, friends, neighbors and coworkers. And when someone we love is fighting breast cancer, none of us stands on the sidelines. We fight alongside them.
There is one thing cancer reminds us of again and again:
We are not alone.
Nearly every one of us knows someone whose life has been touched by cancer. In 2026 alone, an estimated 321,910 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Over a lifetime, about 1 in 8 women will face a breast cancer diagnosis.
Those numbers are staggering, but behind every number is a person.
A mother. A daughter. A wife. A sister. A friend.
Behind every diagnosis is a family navigating fear and hope. Appointments and surgeries. Treatments and waiting. Good days and incredibly hard days. There are tears, victories, setbacks, prayers—and people who would do absolutely anything to help someone they love.
That is why DJ’s Dockside Resort, Park Island Resort and Nelson Lake Lodge are coming together to host COMMUNITY AGAINST CANCER: In Honor, In Memory, In Hope. 🎀
On Saturday, October 24, we are inviting our entire community to come together. We’ll walk, laugh, cry, share stories, remember those we have lost, celebrate those who have survived, stand beside those who are still fighting—and most importantly, fight back against cancer together.
Our goal is ambitious: RAISE $10,000 FOR SUSAN G. KOMEN.
Every dollar raised through this event will go toward that goal and help support the important work Susan G. Komen does to advance breast cancer research, advocate for patients and provide support and resources to patients and families.
💕 And we need our community to help us get there.
Make a donation. Donate an item, service, experience or gift basket to our silent auction. Share this post. Share your cancer story. Invite your friends and family. Come in honor of someone you love. Come in memory of someone you miss. Come to stand beside someone who is still fighting.
And most importantly, come spend October 24 with us.
The day begins at 2:00 PM at Park Island Resort, continues at Nelson Lake Lodge, and finishes right here at DJ’s Dockside Resort with 50/50 drawings, door prizes, our silent auction, complimentary appetizers and live music with Tom Burr. All the details are in the flyer below.
