Haverhill Residents, the price of food, electricity, and gas continues to go up. Heck, everything is going up! If you find you are having a challenging time stretching your paycheck to cover everything, please consider visiting the Liz Murphy Open Hand Pantry.

Our pantry is sponsored by St Gabriel the Archangel Parish (St James and St John the Baptist churches) is here to help. Our pantry supports Haverhill Residents. You do not have to be on Food Stamps to visit the pantry.

We have canned fruits, veggies, tuna, soups, pasta sauces, peanut butter, juice, milk, cake mixes, condiments, dry beans, rice, mac~n~cheese, pasta, cereals, toiletries, frozen meats, eggs, cheese, fresh veggies, bread and extras. We have a small selection of Nut Free and Gluten Free Items. We do not pre-bag groceries. Upon signing up we provide you with two over-sized cloth bags, and you shop with the assistance of a volunteer for the food items you and your family like and will enjoy.

Our facility is handicap accessible with a new lift for those with mobility issues. Our facility is also air conditioned. If you know of anyone who is struggling putting food on the table, please encourage them to stop by on any Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:00.

Our hours of operation are 4:00 – 7:00 pm, however, there is paperwork to complete therefore, we ask all new clients to come between 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

We are in the basement of the Unitarian Universalist Church @ 16 Ashland Street, Haverhill. Bring a picture ID and a piece of Mail showing your current address.

With Easter the first Sunday of the month Good shepherd is doing the FREEmarket a week early.

This Sunday (3/29) Good Shepherd UMC (471 Main St Haverhill, MA) in collaboration with Multicultural Community Support (Taina Janvier Mathurin) is holding it's monthly FREEmarket to give away household goods, clothing, small furniture, small appliances, twin and full beds etc to those in need. We have our service at 10:30am, followed by a FREE luncheon at 11:45am and Shopping in our FREEmarket from 12-1:30pm. All are welcome to join any of the events. We also can help transport some of the bigger items as needed. Everything is FREE!

We are so appreciative of Tricia Tupaj and the Amesbury High School students for their cereal drive. Today we received four hundred boxes of cereal. We cannot wait to stock the shelves for all our clients to select from.

The Liz Murphy Open Hand Pantry located at 16 Ashland Street, Haverhill, is here to serve the community. We welcome Haverhill Residents who are struggling with the inflated cost of groceries. If you know a friend, neighbor, or family member who is struggling, please have to visit the Pantry on Tuesday 4:00 - 7:00 PM. They just need to bring a piece of mail for all household members over 5 years of age. New clients are provided with two large reusable cloth bags and an ID (bar code) card. We have canned goods, shelf milk, coffee, tea, hot coco, juice, pasta, dry beans, rice, pasta, a variety of frozen fish, chicken, pork, beef and turkey, eggs, cheese, fresh fruits and veggies, bread and a wide variety of extra's (peanut butter, jelly/jams, cake, brownie and cookies mixes, dates, raisins, soups, raisins, salad dressings, mustard, ketchup, mayo and more. No one should go without food.

Our volunteers are anxiously waiting to meet new clients and assist them as they shop for their supplemental groceries.

Sending a huge shout out to Hope & Comfort for the wonderful donations of toiletries to our Pantry. They continue to provide us with toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, laundry detergent and feminine hygiene products. We are so appreciative of their continued support.

Attention all clients: Haverhill Public Schools are closed Tuesday 2/24, and that means the Pantry will be closed as well. Please stay home and warm and safe. Go easy shoveling.

I'm sure the school kids are thrills to have another day off, but I for one am wishing for spring to arrive real soon.
