Hey all, PARC here.

This Sunday, November 8th at 11 AM ET, we and other Asian students on campus will be having a Conversation on Asian Solidarity. This discussion is intended to be a space for Asian students to voice your support, questions, and concerns about the Strike. This discussion is focused on collectively better understanding the Strike’s goals and identifying our position within Asian solidarity for the Strike and for Black lives.

We encourage any and all students who self-identify as Asian (US-raised, internationally-raised, and anywhere in between) to come.

The zoom link is in the post and here is the zoom link: https://haverford.zoom.us/j/97869737107.

Please fill out this Google form if you have any questions/comments/concerns for this Zoom discussion. These responses are anonymous: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1RB91foL-_GX14XEiV5LM5Z57V6bY1_A7XLKAwoHCrm0/edit

We hope to see you there.

On March 27th at 5:30pm, PARC is hosting the second part of our series of food events titled Dinner with the Diaspora, a semester-long series that will focus on how food relates with our identities, heritage, and communities. Come join us in VCAM to sample dishes containing Western ingredients that have been reinterpreted by the diaspora/food that has been commonly misappropriated by Western countries and join in on discussions about these dishes and food in general! The purpose of this event is to share different aspects of the Asian diaspora with the Haverford community, so everyone is welcome to sign up! Unfortunately, we can only allow at max 40 people to join us at this event, so fill out this form ASAP if you're interested!

Note ❗❗❗: In the event that there is more than 40 people, we will run a lottery on Monday at 10pm to choose the attendance. We will get back to you all by Tuesday!

Asia is home to an unbelievable myriad of diverse cultures, races, and ethnicities, a lot of which unfortunately don’t fall into the traditional Asian narrative as dictated in the US. Where this traditional narrative limits the popular meaning of the word ‘Asian’ to ‘East Asian’, it ignores the many communities in Asia who come under the fold of a Pan Asian identity.

Our vast differences are the cornerstone of our different identities, including different kinds of tea! PARC, as part of its mission to foster support for all members of the Pan Asian community, especially invites the traditionally underrepresented communities of West and Central Asia to join us for evening of sharing the space, stories, and lots of tea from across these regions. We’re excited to meet you and share our mission to provide support for you, all the while sipping some delicious hot beverages!

This event is open to all members of the Pan Asian communities.

Hello friends! Here's to let all those interested in the reverse culture shock discussion that the timings have been changed to 4:30 - 5:30 pm this Friday, 22nd February due to snow. We're just as excited to meet all of you then! 😄

Coming home is what we look forward to the most after a stressful semester until we realise the habits that we were once familiar with seem so different now! The tingling confusion when you try to manage these changes at your place is called Reverse Culture Shock, a common psychological distress that most college students experience when they return home.

As an attempt to release emotional labours over winter break, PARC is facilitating a Quaker-style discussion 4:30 - 5:30 pm Friday, 22nd February @ PARC (DC Basement 008) to our members to share your thoughts and experience on this topic, so please mark the date in your calendar!
