It’s not BBQ
 but it’s dang good!

I decided to switch things up and make a batch of shrimp and grits using Sea Island Blue Grits from our friend Brittney Abernathy , and I don’t think I’ll ever look at grits the same way again. I topped them with shrimp in a rich, creamy garlic Cajun sauce seasoned with Tony Chachere’s and Farm to Fire Boux-Yah, and every bite was packed with flavor.

A huge thank you to Asia, Asia_Yo , for the tips and advice along the way. It’s always fun learning from people who are passionate about great food. This one is definitely going into the regular rotation!

Sometimes the circumstances around us don’t change, but God can still change what is happening within us.

Psalm 4 reminds us that peace isn’t found in having a perfect life or having every problem solved. Peace is found in knowing that God hears us, cares for us, and is with us.

David could lie down and sleep in peace because his confidence was in the Lord.

Whatever you’re carrying today, bring it to God. You may not be able to control the fire around you, but you can trust the One who is with you in it.

There’s something beautiful about the way faith and barbecue come together.

Both require patience. Both require preparation. Both are built over time. And both are better when shared with others.

Great barbecue cannot be rushed. Neither can a deep and lasting faith.

The fire needs the right fuel. Our faith needs the Word of God.

The meat needs preparation. Our hearts need prayer, worship, and time in God’s presence.

You have to watch the temperature and make adjustments along the way. And in our walk with Christ, we have to stay connected to God and allow Him to guide us.

And at the end of the day, barbecue was never meant to be enjoyed alone.

Neither was faith.

That’s why I believe so strongly in creating spaces where people can gather around the table, have real conversations, study God’s Word, pray for one another, and simply do life together.

At Bibles & Barbecue by Holy Smokes, we believe some of the best conversations happen around a fire.

And through The Table Online Community, we’re creating a place where faith and friendship can come together. A place to grow, encourage one another, ask honest questions, and dig deeper into the Word of God.

Because sometimes the conversation that starts with, “What are you cooking?” ends with, “How can I pray for you?”

Sometimes the greatest miracle isn’t that the trouble disappears immediately. Sometimes it’s that God gives you peace while you’re still surrounded by it. đŸ”„

Psalm 3 reminds us that even when the pressure is high and the smoke is thick, God is still our shield. He is still our glory. He is still the One who lifts our heads.

The world is full of loud voices telling us how to live, what to believe, and where to find fulfillment. But Psalm 1 reminds us that the truly blessed life isn’t found by following the crowd—it’s found by delighting in God’s Word and meditating on it day and night.

Just like great barbecue takes patience, a faithful walk with Christ is built low and slow, one day in His presence at a time.

No, Netflix didn’t actually call. 😂

But if they ever make a documentary about the Kettle Krew and everything that’s happened, I’ll already have my interview ready.

Filmed in front of the Weber kettles that started it all, wearing the original OG Kettle Krew shirt. It’s a reminder of a community that meant a lot to so many people.

The timing is interesting. After engaging with our community and seeing the passion behind it, Weber and Blackstone have now announced their own “Kettle Crew.” I genuinely hope it builds community and gets more people cooking over charcoal. At the same time, it’s hard not to recognize where so many of those ideas were first lived out by the people who built this community from the ground up.

Communities aren’t created by marketing campaigns. They’re built by real people who invest their time, passion, and love for the craft.

Here’s to everyone who was there from the beginning. Keep the fire burning. đŸ”„
