I assure you, We're OPEN for curbside, drive-thru, six days a week!!

Fun fact: For 19 years we were open seven days a week. Our hours changed slightly during the pandemic. The storm shutters were installed due to multiple instances of vandalism.

Over 20 years ago, I was 8 months pregnant with my oldest when a regular customer sat down to eat. As soon as we placed the plate of food in front of her she stood up and threw it on the floor. I rushed to her table to see if she needed help. She proceeded to push me while yelling, "call the cops!" Shaken, but safe, I called the police while our loyal guests stood between me and the customer. After the officers spoke with her they determined that she was schizophrenic and forgot to take her meds. They advised me not to press charges. Shortly after the officers left she was walking alone in our parking lot once again.

I've thought of that incident a few times over the years. I was safe, my baby was safe, but that customer wasn't.

Years later the customer came back to our restaurant. We served them with compassion and a prayer as a reminder that they do not have to carry this mental illness alone.

"Why don't you fix your sign? It looks bad!"

Would you believe there was a time, pre social media, when we didn't need a sign for people to know about us? Those were the days! We're still Harlingen's best kept secret!

Our sign shows all the struggles we've been through! It's weathered vandalism, a tropical storm and four car accidents. It tells our story! No matter the obstacles we're still standing...a little broken but still serving our purpose!
