On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Grade 9 and Grade 11 Culinary Arts students enjoyed an educational and fun-filled field trip to Hornstra Farms. This family-owned and operated dairy farm has been serving the community for over 100 years and provided students with a firsthand look at the local dairy industry.
During the visit, students learned about dairy cattle management and modern dairy farming practices. They also explored the differences between homogenized and ultra-homogenized dairy products and gained insight into the farm's production process. Students toured the farm store and dairy bar, where they saw how locally produced dairy products are marketed and sold to consumers.
Following the farm tour, students enjoyed lunch at The Fours Norwell. The day concluded with some well-deserved recreation activities at Ryan Family Amusements, where students had the opportunity to relax and enjoy time with their classmates.
The trip provided valuable connections between classroom learning and real-world food production while giving students an opportunity to explore careers within the agricultural and hospitality industries. It was a memorable day filled with learning, teamwork, and fun.
