For many years, Carolyn Schulten, fondly referred to as Mimi, would annually commission a birthday cake for her daughter, Lisa, and son-in-law, Kim Shores. Our discussions about the cake would take place about a month prior, and Carolyn would consistently express her admiration, even though she was the embodiment of kindness. The cake brought her immense joy, and she would be overwhelmed with gratitude. This year, 2026, marks a different occasion, as Carolyn passed away on February 8. Despite her absence, I was certain that I would still make the cake, as it was a cherished tradition. Kristen, Lisa and Kim's daughter, contacted me to request the cake, and I had already planned to do so. I opted to deliver the cake personally, and Kristen agreed, unaware that they would be receiving a cake from Mimi. Kristy, Carolyn's daughter, settled the bill, insisting that it was still Mimi's money that paid. When I delivered the cake, Lisa and I were both moved to tears, knowing the significance of the gesture. Happy birthday to Lisa and Kim Shores, may Mimi's legacy live on and may there be a birthday cake from here ever after. ❤️❤️❤️ pictured is Mimi between her two daughters.❤️
