Morning all. Looked at the computer too long this morning so now its hurry hurry. Thanks to all who have sent your prayers. It's nice to know that people care. My phone is dying so really have to type fast. I left my charger at work. We were busy filleting yesterday so we could fill our weekly orders and I even got in there and helped. My appt. With Thrive chiropractic went well. He adjusted my back and then put me on the stretching machine. If you think of the ancient times when they would strap your arms and legs and then stretch you but not to feel good but to make you suffer, well that's kinda what this machine does only it does not hurt you but helps stretch your spine so your bulging discs can go back into place. Again afterward I could feel the difference plus he has given me exercises to do daily. It's helping. I still have 10 more sessions. I may end up a bit taller as well, lol. I see out my window that that wind is still whipping around. Well today, thursday, is our official opening day at Four Suns Fish and Chips with our full menu. Open Monday thru saturday 11-7. The staff has been busy all week prepping sauces and other needed items for your yummy dining experience. Hope to see you here. Good thing we have indoor seating as its still cold out there. Have to get going now and get to work. Remember be kind and respect your fellow man. Kindness comes back to you ten fold. Gramma Pat

Sleeping used to be rest.

Now it’s a full-body negotiation.

Here comes the sun and hopefully a little bit of warmer weather. My furnace is still on out of necessity as I dont like being cold, lol. Busy busy day yesterday but plans are forming to bring hubby home on Friday. Recommended getting him a hospital bed for the time being and Canal View wasn't aware that you can rent them for $200 a month from the Scooter Dr. place in the mall. Doug comes and sets it up so you don't have to do anything but place that call.
So things are moving forward and hubby is excited to be coming home. My super hyper puppy is super hyper and wants to play and bite your toes all the time. Knows what Go P*e P*e means now and does his job as soon as he hits the grass. I ordered an ### small collar so he can be walked. Hard to find tiny things for him locally but we managed. He spent a good part of yesterday with grandson and found his favorite place to sleep in a football helmet, lol. We solved our lake trout dilemma and we're able to purchase some so our deli case is full. Smoked products as well. I see on the Events part of my fb that we have a lot of different things going on throughout our so called summer. All I can say about that is don't pack away your warmer clothes and jackets. Make sure your furnace is running good because you still may need it, lol. So if you want to either hit up the yard sales or music evenings or other things we in the Copper Country have a lot of things going on. The choice is yours. Well I need to get moving once again. I went to bed really early so feeling much more rested today. Have a great day. Gramma Pat

Good morning all you fine folks out there. Buddy, our new family pup got into the vet yesterday on a cancelation appt. He weighed in at a whopping 2.2 lbs. And as the doctor held him and laughed at how tiny he is said he seems pretty healthy. Starts his shots on Friday. Good news at Peterson's Fish Market as our nephew will be fishing in our area and will be bringing me lake trout as well as our keweenaw bay fisherman. We will have fresh lake trout available this morning by 11 a.m. fresh salmon also coming in and we are smoking some salmon today as we sold out yesterday. Business is in high gear. Just wish our weather would warm up a bit more. Now in Four Suns Fish and Chips, the help has been busy prepping our full menu food items as this Thursday June 18 we start our full schedule. The girls are debating on whether to stay open till 8 p.m on Fridays or just close at 7 p.m. with the economy the way it is, it may be costing us more in expenses than getting a few more customers that last hour. We will keep you notified. Dr. Appt with hubby to see the urologist specialist at 10:30, then a home visit in preparation for hubby's return home. Just hoping all of his infection is gone. I need to mention that thru out hubby's stay at Canal View nursing home he has gotten the best care. These nurses and aides and the rest of staff are great. These beautiful elderly men and women are so sweet. I helped a resident named Sharon back to her room which she wasn't quite sure of, but between the 2 of us found it. They ask for nothing but love it when you share your day with them. I go every day so they recognize me now and I wish i had more hours in my day to visit with them. All they want is a little time with you and a smile. Respecting the elderly is the best thing you can do for them. So if mom or dad or your grandparents are still at home take that hour or even half hour out of your day to go see them. They don't want or need possessions but that visiting makes all the difference in the world to them. It's called sharing time. Well my time at home is running short as I need to get going. Have a great day and love those loved ones. Gramma Pat

Life can take a sudden turn in your life and you need to suddenly stop what you are doing and handle it. My post will be short this morning. Have chiropractor appts. This morning so have to tend to that. Need to be able to keep going so I handle it. Hubby coming home Thursday or Friday so need help with home nursing. Made the calls and along with meeting will get him situated. I take care of myself so no worries about me. I am used to juggling a lot of things at once so here we go again. Time is precious and it just keeps on going and seems faster and faster all the time. Fresh whitefish coming in a bit later but NO LAKE TROUT. My trout fisherman is waiting for these winds to settle down. Will keep you all posted. Have to run to work right now so signing off. A fast paced gramma Pat. Have a great day and a good morning all!

Hello Saturday. Sometimes i don't know if I am coming or going and so that is my reason for posting Fathers Day as this weekend when in fact it is next Sunday. You can still honor your dad any time so sorry for the mistake. Well our fishermen are taking a ride this morning but will be bringing in some nice whitefish. Sorry all you trout eaters but none coming our way. With these wild winds a lot of the fishermen pulled their nets out. So in Peterson's Fish Market we will have available fresh lake superior whitefish along with some farm raised salmon. We have in stock in our frozen display case perch fillets, cod loins, haddock and Po***ck, shrimp, lobster tails , mussels, clam strips plus halibut and scallops. I think that's it. So many choices for you. I think my new puppy Buddy is in his terrible twos even though he is only going on 8 weeks. He is learning though and constant training is key. Wow is all I can say about our Bridgefest parade yesterday. The traffic was crazy as hubby and I approached The Tire Shop (new name but can't remember it) and ended up pulling into oldest sons yard. We sat for a good hour and visited. This was after we had supper at Jim's Pizza in Calumet. We both had the chopped sirloin covered in mushrooms and onions along with a really good gravy to top off our mashed potatoes and even soup. Then dropped hubby off and both agreed it was a great outing. Before I left work I ran into a 40 year friend who was having supper at Four Suns along with her son and his wife. We talked and laughed and reminisced about the past years before I had to run. So good to see you Janet and family. I also need to put this out there, asking for family, does anyone know of a rental to accommodate 4 to 5 men who will be working in the area for the summer months. Furnished and not too expensive. Appreciate it. It's kinda chilly out this morning with those constant winds so you may want to wear a jacket if heading out to take part in any of the activities that are going on today. Enjoy it. Well its that time again. Haircut at 10 so off I go. Can't believe it but we are half way thru June!!!! A chilled gramma Pat

FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY! It's here again already. I think we may be done with the rain as miss sunshine is poking her head out of the clouds. Bridgefest parade today which has sure grown over the years. Lots of candy being given out to the little ones and some awesome floats passing by. The cars are parked up and down the side streets like crazy. Our new puppy, Buddy, sure has lots of energy. He gets the zoomies and runs non stop as we laugh our heads off. Trying to chew on everything and anything. Sure isnt the calm little pup we thought we had at first but we love his personality. He pretty much has the bathroom thing down and I am training him to sit with a cheerios reward. He had his first bath last night and he sure did not like that but will get used to it as he will get one every two weeks. Can't have a stinky pup, lol. Well father's day will be here this Sunday so make sure you treat dad, pops, old man, papa or whatever his nickname is to a special day. Even a visit with his favorite candy or a meal out somewhere makes it special for him. Without him none of us would be here. So Happy Fathers Day to all you dads out there. The name which we affectionately called daddy even when we grew up was a great man. He worked hard his whole life and taught all of us kids how to play cribbage, badminton, ping pong, croquet and tons of other card games. He was a very quiet gentle man who loved his family deeply. Miss him dearly. So make sure you honor him on his day. Well i have to say that our smoked fish spread half price sale sure was a hit. Sold out real fast so thanks for taking the extra spread off our hands. Hope you all enjoyed it. Now today we will be running out of fresh whitefish due to the fact that our restaurant orders were huge plus our own restaurant went thru so much yesterday. Fishermen can't make it out on the lake today but will Saturday so will have lots more in the early afternoon. We still have some lake trout available. Well its getting to be that time again so I say adios to my wonderful readers. Have a great weekend as there is lots of things to do in our area and the weather may cooperate. Gramma Pat

Hello from the UP, namely Hancock Michigan. Still raining so our yards are getting a good soaking but much needed. Today at Peterson's Fish Market we have on sale for half price our smoked fish spreads. The reason why we are offering these fish spreads so cheap is because when we smoked some whitefish fillets quite a few of these fillets stuck to the fish rack so when you try to remove them they come off in a pile. Still delicious smoked fish but not intact so we made spread out of them. Our loss is your gain. While supplies last so come grab a few. Delivery day so we will be busy finishing filleting and weighing up orders. I actually jumped in at the fillet table yesterday afternoon and did some filleting. We all together got a lot done. Team work and it sure goes smoothly when we can work as one. Working at this job is a lot of standing on a cement floor for hours on end repeatedly doing the same motion over and over. It caused your back, shoulders and arms to hurt after the first 6 hours. I do hire my massage therapist Charlie usually once every 3 weeks to come to the market and give workers a 20 to 30 min. Massage. It helps us all feel better so we can keep going. Another great thing is that Four Suns Fish and Chips will be open today from 11 to 7 as well as Friday and Saturday same hours. Later this afternoon we will be getting in some nice fresh lake trout. Our trout fisherman had some problems with his fishing gear but has now fixed things. So forward we go. It sounds like that new splash pad located in Laurium is a big hit with the kids. Fun for the whole family. Another great event is Bridgefest starting today with lots of activities planned for everyone. So put on those rain coats and get out and enjoy the celebration. Almost to the middle of June as time seems to whizz by. I read that the Miners Cafe in Laurium has new owners. Great little restaurant. Well I better get moving as I have a chiropractor appt. this morning. Here's to another great day in the Keweenaw. Gramma Pat

A top of the hat good morning to all. Foggy and windy this morning. Maybe that is why one of my chippies decided to come inside. When I take my new puppy Buddy outside to p*e I leave the door open behind me so I'm pretty sure that's how he came in. Could have been inside all night but I caught sight of him running in my kitchen and he headed for the patio door and was trying to escape. I had to leave both doors open and he finally ran out. My puppy Buddy already knows about going outside for his bathroom stuff so another week and he will be trained. Another thing I forgot about is that puppies like to chew on things. Anything they can get their sharp little teeth into works just fine. So today it's shopping for some chew toys. I also have to get some tick and flea bath shampoo or powder as the puppy Frontline cannot be used on puppies less than 8 weeks old or under 5 lbs. He is maybe 1 pound or 11/2 lbs. He is completely at home now and is trying to be the pack leader so I need to make sure he knows that gramma Pat is the leader of the pack, lol. I used to watch Ceasar Millans dog whisperer and I learned a lot about dogs and I used it on all my dogs. He is an excellent dog handler. Hubby was home for a few hours yesterday and got to play with our new pup and loved him as well. Fishing crew made it out on the lake again so will be bringing in a load of fresh whitefish this afternoon. Lots more filleting. Our restaurant Four Suns Fish and Chips will be open thursday thru saturday this week so stop in for a good meal of fresh fish if in the area. We look forward to feeding all of you. I remember as a youngster that I did not like to eat fish because back in the day the fish was full of bones and I hated picking thru it and then if you got a bone stuck in your throat you ended up eating a slice of bread to dislodge it. Well all our fish is pinboned so no hassles with fish bones. Makes eating fish so much more enjoyable. Well it's time for me to get moving. Time waits for no one. Have a great day. Gramma Pat

Good morning from wet, wet, Hancock MI. Getting the much needed rain that we need. My grass is brown so I knew we needed it. Well I ended up getting a new puppy. After having to put my Rocco to sleep after 16 yrs. 4 months of having my pup with us I missed his sweet little personality and his tick tick noise of his paws on the tiles in my kitchen and his tail always wagging when he greeted me at the door. Prior to Rocco we had Oliver for 11 years and had to also let him go to puppy land. It's hard having a pet knowing that they will most likely pass before you but the pure joy of having them in your life and the companionship is so worth it. Our pups live the life of kings and they are worth it. So when family got hold of me to let me know these pups were available I really gave it a lot of thought before deciding to get one. Seeing this tiny little male pomeranian and asking questions about him sealed the deal. Plus my brother and sister in law lived close to the puppy owners made it easier to decide as he was willing to drive him home to me. Deal done. We named him Buddy after my youngest brother who we lost a few years ago. So this little guy was scared but got used to us pretty easily. Puppy training has been a snap so far. Consistency is the key that makes training him much easier. I had a carry crate that we used to take Rocco with us to Mexico so brought it upstairs and put him in it. I figured he may cry being away from the litter but I stuck my hand in one end when he fussed and had no problem with him sleeping. So far easy. Now trying to get an appt. At our local vets is another story. Ended up making an appt.with one in Lanse, 30 miles away. He needs his first shots so that is soon to be done plus a check up. So our newest addition is here to stay. On another note we got some lake trout in Peterson's Fish Market plus our fresh whitefish. Plenty of smoked fish available as well. Oh yeah I wanted to let you know that we offer Walleye and Cod bites in our frozen fish freezer. We tried the breaded walleye bites and they are delicious. Next will be the cod bites. One more thing before I close. The creature from the black lagoon is back and living under one of the storage containers again. An employee said it looks like a small bear so it is a pretty decent size. Going to have to trap it somehow and release it far far away. Well it's time to go. Have a good day. Gramma Pat
