Not all heroes wear capes. ❤️
Some show up quietly, hold your hand through the darkest moments, and somehow become part of your family along the way.
Joanna Stokinger, was a Victims’ Advocate for the State of Maine, came into our lives during a time that was critical, devastating, and filled with unimaginable pain. When our world was falling apart, Joanna was there. She listened, supported us, guided us, and stood beside us when we needed someone the most.
Joanna has helped hundreds of families whose lives have been forever changed by senseless violence. She continues to be a voice for those whose voices were taken far too soon, and an advocate for the families left behind.
But to us, she became so much more than an advocate.
She became our person.
Our support.
Our safe place.
Our family. ❤️
During some of the worst moments of our lives, Joanna reminded us that we weren’t alone. She showed up when it mattered, and she continues to show up.
And today, something happened that felt pretty special.
Joanna walked into our cafe. ❤️
After all the years, all the tears, all the difficult moments, and all the ways she has stood beside our family, seeing her walk through our cafe doors was one of those moments that makes you stop and realize just how far you’ve come.
There are people who have a job… and then there are people who turn their job into a calling.
Joanna is one of those people.
We are forever grateful that she walked into our lives when she did — and today, we were pretty darn happy to have her walk into our cafe. ❤️
Not all heroes wear capes. Some carry a clipboard, a kind heart, incredible strength, and stand beside families when they need it most.
Thank you, Joanna, for being one of ours. ❤️
