.. and there couldn’t be a more exiting photo❣️ So sorry to of missed anyone. Due to the holiday & the lack of the key components that made Tropical Taco give you their best.. Today was the last day of the restaurant & those Fat Jacks.

Vic will not be here Friday or Saturday ~ This afternoon the doors closed for one last time .. Multiple mahalo go out to each and everyone of you that came in for my awesome husband’s food.. The tide of change has hit our simple way of life in Hanalei ~ Thank You 🌮Thank You 🌮 Thank You 🌮 I know he would have a tear in his eye with a huge a sigh of relief, exhaling with a bit more than just air 💨~

Mahalo to our crew of hard workers, you kept his aloha alive.

Tropical Taco is now resting in Roger’s arms from way up there ⬆️ and we have his wings watching over us and this island he loved.

Much Aloha to everyone ~ We wish you the best holidays ever, sending nothing but love and good wishes for your new coming year .. Do 2025 the Kennedy Way ~ With nothing but 🌺 ALOHA 🌺 He and that wagon were filled with the best of memories ♥️ I miss him today and all of tomorrows with every bit of my being ~ Barb Kennedy Go Niners 🏈

…and all good things come to an end ~
In honor of Roger Kennedy, the man that contributed an abundance of, Tacos, Burritos, Fat Jacks, Craters,Tostados, Bajas, and those occasional Barbaritos, with his never ending spirit we will be celebrating his 46 years of aloha as we close the doors for one last day November 30th, 2024
With the support of ‘ohana the decision has been made to have Tropical Taco’s memory remain with him.

We are blessed to have had the most incredible employees and managers a proprietor could ask for. Hiring 100’s of local people from Wailua to Haena for all these years filled the wagon and restaurant with laughter and full bellies. Roger’s contributions to our community was his way of taking care of the place he loved and cared for, his donations to children and adult soccer, t-ball, softball, surf contests, football and private donations to those in need, his recognition of feeding our firemen, lifeguards and disaster workers will always be remembered.

To the thousands of visitors that stood in front of that green wagon or walked through our doors whether it be once or many times throughout the years, you are family to us. Bringing your children and then your grandchildren in made his day with your smiles and memories.

Mahalo Plenty 🤙🏾 Join us to celebrate Tropical Taco and Roger Kennedy these next last weeks ~ He and the restaurant created a “one in a million” experience to remember.

He left deep footprints which is something we can all aspire to do ~

Tropical Taco is and will remain open ~ Roger’s aloha is in every inch of the resturant. T**i Giltner, Crystlyn Ham Young Bryan, Mase Matsumoto, Ava Martin whom Roger loved like his own, along with myself will contiue to do him proud. I love and miss him beyond measure. ~ Barbie

Mahalo nui to all the folks that pitched in with help and offers to work for us on Saturday.. we are rising up with a new crew and appreciate all the calls and well wishes.. Roger sends one big shaka 🤙🏾 with heartfelt thanks. We will be posting new day and evening time hours in the next few days.

Just to settle the coconut wireless down ~
Yes, Roger & Barbie Kennedy still own Tropical Taco.. and yes we have the awesome Hepburn family that have stepped in to manage Roger’s 48 years of hard work that made it is what it is today. It still has the menu Roger began with and the Hepburn’s have created some awesome additions to the menu and they deliver it with the aloha that has always been part of us.

We are falling into the common occurrence that is in Hanalei right now. A person contacted us that spent time this week at the restaurant, that they too had came down with the virus. We are loyal to our customers 💯%. We will be closing until Tuesday to make sure we are all safe. Until then.. wear a mask, our community has treasures here that are 100 years old. We cherish their wisdom. Let’s all be safe ~

This what aloha looks like when sent 4,793 miles away. A nui mahalo to Jerry, Bobbie and their son Asher... Totally floored on how much this means for us to play forward the aloha in feeding the community. Mahalo again to the Morgan ’ohana.. When in St. Augustine please treat yourself to, “Nalu‘s Tropical Take Out”..
