This woman is a FORCE to be reckoned with! Sometimes you can get lucky and see her at her retirement plan…the bakery 🤣. She radiates everything an administrator should be and is truly a unicorn 🦄. Hampton City Schools is incredibly fortunate to have her and I am incredibly fortunate to be able to call her my sister (well, Mom calls her daughter) and best friend.

💙💛 October is National Principals Month! Throughout the month, we are shining the spotlight on the outstanding leaders of HCS. We are kicking things off with Langley! Check out this fun fact about Langley’s principal!

A few things today! Did you know we have our espresso machine UP AND RUNNING! What is better than a latte and a scone? Maybe a coffee and a muffin? The combinations are endless!

I did it. I made soup. It’s October 1st and I’m channeling my inner witchy cauldron ways. Brunswick stew is IN THE FRIDGE!

I ALSO made Chicken Pot Pies to help make this week easier for folks this week. Look, we’re all going through something and use this as a sign to take something off of your plate. Dinner is served.

Willow Woods Equine Sanctuary & Farm Spirit Day is TOMORROW and we will be open until 5pm to make it more convenient. Please come by and support and amazing cause! We are excited to give back to such a cool organization.

Can’t wait to see everyone!!!

We had the most amazing opportunity to serve our City! 1300 cookies walked out of these doors which is a feat that deserves incredible recognition to the folks here for making it happen. Sara, Maia, Sam, Kieran, Annette and Mom, thank you. City of Hampton thank YOU!!! Proof that this tiny little spot here on the corner is NOT to be underestimated. You would think I have a staff of 100 with what these folks can do!

This one was just plain dreamy to create. BONUS…we got the most amazing email from the Momma afterwards telling us how much she loved the cake. We are over here creating and improving ourselves and our business everyday!
I love that my business is located in the City I grew up in. Taking this chance to again say THANK YOU to all of you. Your continued support from home food processing operation, to food truck, to brick and mortar is the stuff dreams are made of. I’m determined to work to make this City even better for small businesses and residents! Here’s to keeping Hampton moving onward and upward! Visit Hampton, Virginia!

I want to thank everyone who called, texted and came into today to show support for brick and mortar businesses. I spent the day fielding so many calls and I’m happy to say that knowing so many people are on my side makes the road ahead look a little like this sunset. Not sure what the outcome will be but today proved that there is a lot of education and learning that all of us could do. I’m going to do my best to shine light on the misunderstandings and learn some things myself along the way.

As Tony Bennett said, “Make Improvements, not excuses.”

Sinners.

I’d like to take this opportunity to clarify some things.

Cottage bakeries have changed SIGNIFICANTLY since I started. When I was first dreaming of cupcakes I had to be licensed and our home inspected by the Virginia Department of Agriculture. As it stands now I was never what the state deems a “cottage bakery” I was a “home food processing operation”, licensed and inspected by the State. How fortunate are these folks that they can operate without this restrictions. Now they want more leniency, which to me is also dangerous when we start talking about setting up neighborhood stands.

I am NOT against these folks. I do, however, have what I would consider legitimate concerns about what they are asking and I think you as the public should as well. I am allowed to disagree with their proposal and not be chastised for it. All I want is a seat at the table, to discuss and actually work together.

So I am asking for you to give me what I want, a chance to explain where I am coming from. I am sure some of you aren’t even familiar with exactly what it takes to become a cottage baker, home based food operation or brick and mortar business. So here we go. Ask me and I will answer and listen and I hope they raise the bar and stop the negative campaign when it has nothing to do with what I was saying. Let’s bake the world a better place!

Next up on the intros is My Sami. This girl. How she came into my life is the best. Her Mom and I grew up together and her grandparents still live next door to my parents. She is a full time student at CNU AND works here. It is so nice to be able to walk out the door and know that she is handling the bakery like a boss. She’s part of making all the magic happen with the theatre department at CNU and I cannot wait to go support her there. But I’ll keep her here baking magic as long as I can!
