The Beginning

So roughly December 2013 I arrived in Italy. My first overseas adventure in my Army Career. I was stationed in Vicenza, Italy about 45 minutes away from Venice. It was here in Vicenza that opened my eyes to the fascinating and exotic at the time world of Wine. Of course the Veneto region is famous for their Prosecco and Aperol Sprits which I grew very fond of. After traveling all over Europe every chance we had between training rotations and some sort of duty I ended up back home in Hampton Virginia and in the Army Reserves. After attending and Graduating Old Dominion University I knew I needed to figure out how to be an adult. I also came to the realization that I missed Italy. I missed Europe as a whole and I wanted to bring that European care free, wine bar in a cellar under an old Basilica vibe back here to Virginia. With the rich history of Phoebus and the old school feel of the 100 year old buildings I knew that Phoebus needed something new and different. With Fort Monroe down the road as well as Oozlefinch Beers and Blending and Sly Clydes creating their iconic Ciders nearby I wanted to offer the locals of Hampton a new establishment to enjoy their favorite wines and hopefully stumble upon a few new favorites, while enjoying a delicious Charcuterie board paired for the seasons and our ever changing selection of wines. We will showcase Virginia wines as we have well over 100 Virginia Wineries to choose from as well as international selections from Slovenia to Spain and every country in between. Our Mission is to give back to our local community and of course give back to our warriors still fighting the good fight overseas and our Veterans.

Stay tuned for many events that we will be leading including a possible silkies march. Paint and sip nights and for those of us whom lived in Germany, Volksmarches onto Fort Monroe with you named it German Beer at the finish line, and many many more things to come!
