For those who do not know me, my name is Marluy. I am the Founder and Visionary of The Beast & Spoon.
It has been 7 years since The Beast & Spoon plopped its little haole butts on Maui. So much has changed! And not just in the outside world, but in our world. Our systems were uprooted and re-sowed. Our kitchen tools were upcycled and upgraded. AND I’ve spent all of 2021 searching for our next executive chef, finally to have found her… a powerhouse ‘Julia Childs’ named Sierra. We have also hired our very first event coordinator. Yes, The Beast & Spoon is now 100% girl power!

The upgrades in 2021 have not only come professionally, but personally as well. I’ve been busy with my own psychological health (EMDR), hosting female empowerment circles, writing my future best-seller, dancing like no-ones watching, and retraining my neuroplasticity for more wealth, self-love and worthiness... Not to mention taking all the time necessary to seek pleasure. The pandemic has taught me how productive relaxation is. I have found MY FLOW.

As I stare into the future of , I can’t help but be giddy with eXciTeMeNt!!!! Soon, I’ll be accepting bitcoin, cooking for Oprah and Jeff Bezos, and changing the Maui economy by giving more and more cash to all of our farmers, fishermen, butchers, salt makers, and organizers of local product. This is the ohana that makes The Beast & Spoon so special:

DID YOUR THANKSGIVING DAY KITCHEN LOOK THIS TIDY?
For most of us, when dinner begins we’re pretty much like 6 year olds playing with play-doh… A hot mess. Herbs everywhere, dishes stacked on top of each other, too many kitchen rags out.

Here are a couple chef tips:

-Start with a clean kitchen. Put the junk mail in the trash, and the lemons in the fruit bowl. Every square inch of kitchen counter space is prime real estate! That also means a clean kitchen sink. How else will you dump the pasta water if its full of dishes?

-Have a large bowl dedicated to all your food scraps and trash. This keeps the onions peels off of your counter so the salad bowl and the roasted vegetables have room.

-Clean as you go. Once the chicken hits the oven, go ahead and put away the spices and close the oils. Even if that means stacking used dishes into the sink to clean later. Taking a little moment to organize the kitchen before eating, will help motivate you once the itis sets in.
