Hey guys, Carolyn here. Sorry for the late and long post, but I want to share some of our biscuit happenings and some big big appreciations. Everyone in the affected areas knows how confusing and terrifying those first days in particular were. We all saw what happened in our own homes and neighborhoods. From downed trees and power lines, crushed cars and homes, to the devastation in the flood zones- many of which were never even flood zones before. We all had different experiences, but they were all traumatic and terrifying. We were all desperate to keep ourselves and our families safe, and to know if our other loved ones and work families were ok. With no way to communicate there was no easy way to ease those fears. Our Asheville crew was so worried for our Greenville crew and vice versa. The relief that was felt as we were able to mark each person safe in our minds was indescribable, as was the worry for those not yet checked off on those lists. Our brains were spinning- who lives by water, how close was it to their homes, it was so hard to know who might be affected and who would most likely be ok. When the Greenville team was finally able to reach us, 3 or 4 days in we all were brought to tears with that beautiful feeling of relief. The Greenville crew told us “Don’t worry about us, we are all ok and we know what to do. We got this, just take care of yourselves.” To go from not knowing if people were alive or if the Greenville store was even still standing brought more tears of gratitude and pride for these incredible people. To no one’s surprise the Greenville team did in fact have it. They checked in on each other daily, they checked on the restaurant. They cleaned out the coolers and the whole restaurant, they hobbled together a first food order and pieced together a menu with what they could get. The figured out how to operate under extremely difficult conditions without the help of any of us here in Asheville. I am and will always be incredibly grateful for these beautiful, hardworking, and resilient people and the relief that they provided to us all. Please go and see them and say hi and give them some love. They deserve it ❤️
