Maan, let me tell y’all about the time the church was having Movie on the Lawn. 😂🍿

One of the ladies from the church called me and said, “Marcus, can you be a vendor? And do you have the capacity to do popcorn for about 300 people?”

Now mind you… I DIDN’T EVEN OWN A POPCORN MACHINE! 🤣 At that time Maho’s Bistro was still out there hustling with the hotdog carts, and I would pull up with a flat top to make cheesesteaks.

But one thing about me—if an opportunity calls, especially my church, I’m going to figure something out.

So while I’m on the phone telling her, “Yeah, no problem. Just let me know what you decide,” I’m already driving to Gold Medal trying to price a popcorn machine. 😂 I didn’t care what that machine cost. All I knew was I had just said YES, so now I had to figure out HOW.

While I’m standing there talking to the salesman, she calls back: “It’s a go!”

Lord have mercy. 🤦🏽‍♂️🤣

It’s about 12:30, setup is at 4:00, I need popcorn for 300 people, and STILL AIN’T GOT NO POPCORN MACHINE! 😂

Then I smelled popcorn popping in the building.

That hustler in me kicked in.

I asked the salesman, “If I buy the popcorn from y’all, how much can y’all pop in about three hours?”

I didn’t even know them popping it for me was an option. But you’ll never know what somebody can do until you ASK.

I explained that it was for my church. He said, “No problem. We can pop it, but we can’t bag it.”

I said, “CAN I BUY THE BAGS?” 😂😂😂

He said yes—and then blessed me even more. He gave me the popcorn FREE and popped it for me! 🙌🏽🍿

I loaded that popcorn in the van, hauled tail to the church, got my team together, and we started putting popcorn in bags.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

See, some people would’ve said, “I can’t do 300 people because I don’t have a popcorn machine.”

The hustler says, “I don’t have the machine YET, but give me a minute.” 😂

That day taught me something I’ve carried through every business I’ve built: Don’t always focus on what you don’t have. Look at what you have access to.

Sometimes your biggest resource isn’t money, equipment, or inventory. Sometimes your biggest resource is your mouth, your relationships, your creativity, and your willingness to ASK.

God already had the popcorn popping before I even knew how I was going to get it done. 🙌🏽

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Don’t let what you don’t own stop you from accepting an opportunity. You don’t have to own every resource—you just need to know how to FIND the resource. Say yes, make the phone call, ask the question, build the relationship, and figure it out.

That’s the difference between somebody waiting on an opportunity and THE HUSTLER WHO MAKES A WAY.

From hotdogs 🌭 to cheesesteaks to 300 bags of popcorn 🍿… Maho’s Bistro was going to find a way!

They call it hustling… I call it refusing to quit. 💯

I’ve never been too proud to sell a hotdog. 🌭 I’m JUST A HOTDOG SALESMAN… but that Hotdog Cart has opened doors, fed families, created opportunities, built relationships, and helped build Maho’s Bistro one customer at a time.

Sometimes people are so busy trying to LOOK successful that they’re scared to start small. Not me. Give me a cart, some hotdogs, some lemonade, and an opportunity—and I’m going to WORK! 🤣

Never be ashamed of your beginning. God can take something that looks small in somebody else’s eyes and turn it into something bigger than you ever imagined.

Hey y’all ❤️

I woke up a little down this morning because I’ve been thinking about how badly I want to see Maho’s Bistro become a household name. But then I had to remind myself what this is really about.

I may never be world famous, and that’s alright with me. If we can build Maho’s to the point where you leave Greensboro and you’re already excited about coming back home to get one of our hotdogs, a cold lemonade, or one of those egg rolls… then I’ve done my job. ❤️

That’s the kind of legacy I want to build. Something Greensboro can call OURS. Something you grew up eating, something you tell your family about, and something you bring your out-of-town friends to try.

And we’re not done yet!

Maho’s Bistro is opening soon on Alamance Church Road, bringing you that old-school, country-field feel with the Maho’s flavor y’all have supported for years.

So I’m asking my Maho’s family for one thing: SHARE THIS POST. Help me keep building this dream one customer, one hotdog, one lemonade, and one egg roll at a time.
