🐾💛 SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL PUPPY MILL AWARENESS MONTH 💛🐾
Those puppy eyes can make it easy to fall in love. BUT where your GOLDEN puppy comes from matters.
This month, GRCA encourages future puppy owners to PAWS before they purchase and do their homework.
🔎 LEARN the difference between puppy mills, backyard breeders and responsible/ethical/preservation breeders.
🩺 ASK for verifiable health clearances and know what clearances should be completed for Golden Retrievers.
💛 SUPPORT ethical and preservation breeders who prioritize health, temperament, structure and the future of the breed.
📋 KNOW what USDA and state kennel licenses mean. A license alone does not necessarily mean a breeder meets the standards of a responsible preservation breeder.
🚩 RECOGNIZE THE RED FLAGS: Always available puppies, multiple litters, breeding primarily for color such as English Cream or Red, missing health clearances, high-volume breeding, breeders who breed doodles or goldadors, breeders not titling their breeding stock and breeders who won't answer your ALL questions.
