From Corporate Life to Innkeepers: The Story Behind The Welsh Hills Inn
Our journey to becoming innkeepers began more than 20 years before we ever welcomed our first guest!
For years, we enjoyed traveling to Maine, staying at charming bed and breakfasts along the way and along the beautiful, rugged coastline. We loved the warmth, character, personal touches, and genuine hospitality that made each stay so memorable. During those trips, we'd often find ourselves dreaming aloud about how wonderful it might be to someday own and operate an inn of our own.
For more than two decades, it remained one of our favorite "maybe someday" dreams.
Eventually, after many years in the corporate world, we began thinking seriously about the next chapter of our lives. We were ready for a change of pace, something more personal and fulfilling, and an opportunity to turn our longtime dream into reality. The timing finally felt right to leave corporate life behind and embrace a completely different adventure.
And so, our "maybe someday" became The Welsh Hills Inn in 2010, nestled in the beautiful Welsh Hills countryside of Granville, Ohio. What began as a new chapter in our lives has become a true labor of love.
Our vision was simple: to create the kind of special place we had enjoyed so much during our own travels — a welcoming retreat where guests could relax, feel pampered, enjoy wonderful food and beautiful art, and experience genuine, heartfelt hospitality.
Looking back, trading corporate life for innkeeping was quite an adventure, but one we wouldn't trade for anything. The friendships we've made, the stories we've shared, and the wonderful guests who have become part of our lives have made this journey more rewarding than we ever imagined.
After more than 20 years of dreaming, we discovered that sometimes the very best thing you can do is turn "someday" into today. For us, the greatest reward of being innkeepers isn't simply welcoming guests into our home — it's making them feel that, for a little while, it's their home, too.
