Sunday, June 7. A personal (to celebrate my 80th birthday) invitation to join the community and me to raise money to send Ft. Bragg and Camp Lejeune military family kids to YMCA Camp Hanes for a week of summer camp.
The YMCA & Camp Hanes organizations and I are co-hosting a special fundraiser to fund bringing military family kids from Camp Lejeune Ft. Bragg to Camp Hanes for a week of summer camp. This will be a life enhancing experience for these young boys and girls and a big thank you to their parents who are serving our country.
The event will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 7 at Incendiary Brewing in downtown Winston-Salem. We will have live Oldies music by “Penny Candy”, a raffle and silent auction as part of the effort. 100% of the money raised goes directly to the Y and Camp Hanes to support the children of military families. For each $500 raised we help can change the life of a military family child.
Our goal is to enhance the lives of 20 children. Flyer attached.

Sunday, May 24, (TOMORROW) Annual Memorial Day Commemoration and Guilford County Veterans’ Memorial Re-Opening GREENSBORO, NC. As communities across the nation gather to honor America’s fallen veterans this Memorial Day weekend, it will also mark a powerful new chapter in the history of the Guilford Cunty Veterans Memorial. On Sunday, May 24, at 2:00 p.m. in Country Park, the site is host to a ceremony that will serve not only as a tribute to those who gave their lives in service to the nation, but also as the public reopening of the newly renovated and modernized memorial — a revitalized space dedicated to preserving the legacy of military service for generations to come. The community is invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The event will feature a color guard by the 18th Field Artillery Brigade Color Guard, and guest speaker Dr. Kevin O’Callaghan, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and former educator at the United States Air Force Academy and Center for Creative Leadership.
