Originally from Detroit, Phil Gulis moved to South Bend in 2015 after being recruited to be the executive chef at the Morris Inn at the University of Notre Dame. Before that, he lived in Columbus, Ohio, where he completed an apprenticeship with a certified master chef, he said.
