Did you know some of the foods we eat today have been around for THOUSANDS of years? 🌍✨

Many staples of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine date back to ancient civilizations, and they're still enjoyed around the world today!

🫒 Olive Oil: Olive cultivation dates back more than 6,000 years, making olive oil one of the oldest staples of Mediterranean cooking.
🍯 Honey: Humans have been collecting honey for thousands of years! Ancient Egyptians used it as a sweetener, in traditional remedies, and even in religious offerings.
🌴 Dates: Cultivated in the Middle East for over 5,000 years, dates were an important source of energy for ancient communities and remain a staple in Middle Eastern cuisine.
🌱 Lentils: One of the earliest crops domesticated by humans, with a history stretching back roughly 10,000 years! They're still used in traditional soups, stews, and rice dishes.
❤️ Pomegranate Molasses: Made by reducing pomegranate juice into a rich, tangy syrup, this ingredient reflects the region's long history of pomegranate cultivation and is commonly used in marinades, salads, and traditional dishes like fattoush.

These ingredients have been passed down through generations, connecting the meals we enjoy today to thousands of years of food history.
