We were honored to welcome artists, visitors, and art enthusiasts to Courtyard Downtown throughout this year’s celebration of creativity and community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to experience the inspiring works on display and help make ArtPrize another memorable year.

A special thank you of course to the talented artists for sharing their work with our guests and the Grand Rapids community. We loved being part of an event that brings people together through art, conversation, and inspiration.

Discover a unique family collaboration here at the Courtyard during ArtPrize! 🎨✨

We had the pleasure of learning more about “Three Generations of Artists” by Todd, Brad, and Julia Reed, a stunning piece that brings together the talents of three generations of one artistic family.

This 30-inch by 84-inch gallery-wrapped canvas showcases three iconic Michigan lighthouses through different artistic perspectives. The left features a photograph of Big Sable Point Lighthouse by Brad Reed, the center highlights an oil painting of Little Sable Point Lighthouse by Julia Reed, and the right features a photograph of the Ludington North Breakwater Light by Todd Reed.

Discover some whimsy here at the Courtyard during ArtPrize! 🎨🖌️

We had the pleasure of talking to John Jurries about his piece, “Monsterpalooza”, a collection of original whimsical paintings from his on-going “Monster of the Day” project, a daily painting challenge that’s in its thirteenth year now!

Take a peek and discover all different monsters that take inspiration from a wide variety of themes such as plants, food, animals, and more; including a rendition of the locally famous ✨S-CURVE KITTY✨ ! 🐱

We’re so excited to be hosting 10 artists during ArtPrize 2026, from September 18 through October 3!🎨

Come down to The Courtyard to get a sneak peek of Gina Wolfram’s “Where Water Whispers”.

At first, the scene feels serene and familiar: filtered light, reflective water, and the quiet shelter of the woodland. With time, subtle details emerge, rewarding those who pause, move closer, and look again.

The painting incorporates layers of acrylic, glass, metallic elements, and natural gemstones, including jade, peridot, moss stone, obsidian, lapis, tourmaline, chert, and dacite. Two Petoskey stones are hidden within the landscape; take a close look and see if you can find them!

It’s officially the first day of Preview Week for ArtPrize 2026! ✨🎨

We have so many amazing things that have popped up at The Courtyard, and we’re honored to be hosting 10 artists this year.

Come visit us during preview week for a sneak peek of Brian Butzier’s “We are Water”, an artpiece made from driftwood found in the Great Lakes, detailed with wood burning and painting techniques. With wood pieces that had previously been polluting the great lakes for up to 150 years, Brian’s piece leads by example in inspiring viewers to stand together in protecting Michigan’s precious resources. We’re thrilled to host you for your first ArtPrize, Brian!
