Food question for our community: What’s your favorite meal right now?

It could be something you love here at The Goochland Restaurant, a dish from another restaurant, a family recipe you make at home, or a meal that someone special cooks for you. We’d love to hear about the meals you can’t stop thinking about.

I’ll start. One meal I keep coming back to is the Chicken Marsala from Bella Sicilia. I substitute the noodles for a bed of their sautéed spinach, and it is incredible every time. The Marsala wine sauce paired with the spinach is one of my favorite combinations. The portions are so generous that I almost always enjoy it again the next day for lunch.

Let’s kick off the week with a look at what’s happening in Goochland and the surrounding areas so you can stay ahead of the hustle and plan your week. A chance to make new friends, support local businesses, and show up for others in the community.

**Our Goochland High School Unified Team is currently in Minnesota, representing Team Virginia at the Special Olympics USA Games. This is the highest level of competition for these athletes. One of the team members was featured during the Opening Ceremonies, and the event is being broadcast on ESPN+ and Disney+. The team consists of 4 athletes and 4 partners competing together in Track & Field. We are cheering for each of you and wishing each of you the best as you continue competing.*****

In other community news, there are several upcoming events and announcements:

July 17 – Haashrooms Farm will host a forging event. Registration and more information are available at www.Haashrooms.com.

This Saturday, 10 AM–2 PM – Kanawha Youth Football & Cheer Kickoff at Short Pump Park. Family-friendly event with vendors, food, music, games, inflatables, water slides, and more.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs are also happening at several local churches this month. Families should check with local churches for dates, times, and registration details.

Today, we celebrate the men who make a positive impact in the lives of others.

We also recognize that this day can hold different meanings for different people, and we honor every journey with compassion and respect.
