A Reminder About the Impact of Online Reviews ❤️
We want to take a moment to address something that can have a very real impact on a small business: reviews based on misunderstandings or information that hasn’t been fully verified.
Recently, a customer left a one-star review on google stating that we charged their card $29.68 when their receipt showed $24.73 and described our business as “dishonest.”
We completely understand why seeing a different amount pending on a bank account could be concerning. However, in this situation, $29.68 was a temporary authorization hold—not the final amount charged. The receipt reflected the actual purchase amount of $24.73, and the pending authorization was expected to adjust once the transaction was fully processed.
We responded to the review and explained the situation because we believe it’s important for our customers and community to have the full story.
We are a small, locally owned business, and words like “dishonest” can do significant damage to a business that works hard every day to serve its customers and provide for its employees.
We welcome honest feedback. If something goes wrong, we want to know about it and have the opportunity to make it right. But we kindly ask that concerns be verified before accusations are made publicly.
A one-star review can take only a few seconds to write, but the consequences for a small business can last much longer.
We were not going to address this but today marks one week since this review. We hoped that after the pending charge went through for the correct amount, she would retract her statement on our Google reviews.
To everyone who supports C&G Seafood and Deli, recommends us, leaves thoughtful reviews, and continues to give us the opportunity to serve you — thank you. Your support truly means everything to us. ❤️
Small businesses are built on trust. Please help us protect that trust by choosing facts over assumptions.
