On 11/17/2021 the Poquoson Police Department was contacted regarding a fraud. An employee of a local business was contacted on the business phone from a number that was identified as coming from our agency. The caller stated that they were with the Poquoson Police Department and asked the employee for their personal cell phone number in order to continue a conversation about illegal activity at the business. Thankfully this fraud was recognized and addressed. Please be mindful of frauds of this nature. Do not give out any personal information over the phone. If you receive a call like this, please disconnect and contact the Poquoson Police Department at 757-868-3501.
