Up Root A new club starting and maintaining an organic community garden on the West location, and starting a

UpRoot is a new group of dedicated and passionate students, faculty, and staff who are actively working on designing, organizing, and ultimately creating an organic community garden on the West Campus. Along with the garden, UpRoot is working with members from other campuses to start a healthy food initiative. Through this we hope to bring healthier and more sustainable food options to ASU dining

halls, without a significantly higher cost. Overall, UpRoot wants to advocate and promote healthier lifestyles and sustainable living at ASU and in the community through gardening, educational events, and research.

This week is water awareness week at West. This is to raise awareness about the new water filtration systems UpRoot helped install on campus!! Tomorrow will be a lunch and learn viewing of the film, Tapped, at 3 in Changemaker Central. There will be snacks and a free water bottle! Come by and enjoy water bottle sculptures created by the ASU West community.

Hey guys! I hope your semester is going well. We are having our first meeting next Wednesday (2/12) at noon in the La Sala lobby. We have several things to discuss:

-The 1:1 "non" - conference in San Diego
-A healthy eating event
-The actual design of the garden

Exciting news! We have been invited to the 1:1 movement conference in Sand Diego this summer! This conference (5/31-6/31) gathers leaders (both professional and students) from around the country o collaborate on sustainability projects. Learn more on their site, http://1to1movement.org/. Let me know if this is something you're interested in.

We focus on raising awareness about sustainability, the issues surrounding sustainability, and how to continue the conversation on conservation. Our approach is from the bottom up, top down. Bottom up means grassroots educational programs that we lead in classrooms (K-12), colleges, and communities....
