There are good things on the horizon! While we know the battle with the insurance company is not over we are going to take the time to improve our outdoor area. In the coming weeks we will be adding seating and new access to the sidewalk. We are also adding planters and decor that will create a nice place to gather in the afternoon shade with friends and family. We appreciate all of our customers who continue to support us and the vision we have for our community!

The cones are out on 2nd street, but we are still open! You can access the coffee shop from Market Street. Our fire department is expanding their footprint to better serve our communities needs and they are tearing down a property. This is a public safety concern so most of our section of the street is blocked. For the inconvenience we are going to have a “Fire Sale” in support of our local fire department! 10% off drinks through July 3rd!

Starting the removal of damaged material from the interior. The tornado damaged some of the roof trusses so we will be calling in an engineer. A lot more is involved and we are hoping to have the rest of the gut completed next week, floors and windows coming out then.

Tuck pointing and brick work has been completed after almost 18 months of work including delays. Many of you are aware that it was hit by a tornado a few weeks ago, and due to all the structural work done the building is still a viable opportunity for our community. That being said we are at a cross roads… Despite what we were told was appropriate insurance coverage now we are being told otherwise… Shelter Insurance Company has decided to pay us approximately 30% of the cost to repair the roof, fix the windows, remove and replace ceilings, floors, electrical, insulation etc. (we have roughly $500,000 in damages) There are many holes in their assessment of the damage, and they have even excluded the new work done to the main floor that was set to open weeks ago. The gloves are coming off in this fight and I’m going to be doing more than slipping on brass knuckles. I would urge anyone who currently has a shelter insurance policy to get a competitive quote from a competitor… and switch. Stay tuned.
