A little more left, a little more time

We’ll be here 12-2 and 5-7 with what’s left of the yard sale and serving up scoops of ice cream while we’re here.

Some items in the shop found new homes today’s with some of our favorite people.

If you’re feeling sentimental, want to take a piece of Holler with you, or just want to stop by one more time, we’ll be hanging out tomorrow 12-2p and 5-7p with a few things up for grabs and scoops of ice cream to go with it.

Really, thank you for everything this place has been🤎

We couldn’t think of a better person to close down the shop. Nate’s here from 9a to until we close at 4p (with brief moments of Sal running around).

He joined us about 1.5 years ago and has proven himself over and over again. Yes, he’s stubborn. Yes, he can be super sassy. Yes, he drives us crazy sometimes. Yes, he’s learning to be a little less people-pleasing. But that with all of his incredible traits is what makes him special and successful.

Those amazing traits? He steps up and shows up every day. Even on his bad days, he’s there to help. He does his best to never make excuses for making mistakes. He learns from his mistakes. And he has worked his way up to our Shop Manager. He’s really similar to the COVID generation of baristas - roll up your sleeves, get stuff done, and have fun doing it even in the wildest of times.

And now, he gets to send us off, run our “yard sale”, and help people pick up some of their bigger equipment & fixture purchases.

Can’t wait to see you all as we say adieu

As we close up shop tonight, there is a lot to think about.

One final day. Tomorrow (4/26) we wrap up our time. We have plenty more to say and plenty more to do.

First: we’re still selling a lot of things - tables, chairs, merchandisers, mugs, fridges, etc. Lots of items still for sale tomorrow before we shut our doors for good. Hoping to get through most of it by the end of the day.

Secondly: tomorrow marks our last day open. Hope to see a lot of you there for the final send off. We’ll serve uñas long as inventory allows it. Like every day, since way back in 2017, we’ll do our very best and hope you enjoy the chocolate, the coffee, and the memories.

Finally: we’ll have more to share before it’s all said and done. For right now - thank you for all of the support over the years and thanks for including us into your lives even for a brief moment. Being a part of anyone’s story - even for a moment - is an incredibly powerful thing that we don’t take for granted.

See you on the other side! 9a-4p tomorrow and then we’re into the sunset.

When the alumni come by to say goodbye.

Super proud of all the people that have come through our doors and always incredible seeing some of the alumni follow their own dreams, venture into their own adventures, and always seem to find time to check in on us so we get to see their beautiful faces. !!!

We’ve been very lucky over the years.

Last weekend.
Today we’re 11a-8p and tomorrow we’re 9a-4p

What a journey it has been. It’s strange to think only two days left of what has been almost a decade of memories, stories, and lots of laughter. Almost a decade of people working with us to make a fun little chocolate bar exist in Lexington - no matter how strange it may have seemed.
We’ve been gifted by some compassionate people over the years: vendors, landlords, customers, random strangers, and all of our loved ones. We’ve been held up by everyone’s desire to be a part of community and we just happened to serve chocolate and coffee.

It’s sad it’s all coming to an end, but even the little bits of Chocolate Holler that are going to other people feels really special. Much thanks and looking forward to seeing you this weekend as we send off.

“I think that’s what life is: happy and sad, bittersweet. It’s everything all at once.” - Aimee Lou Wood

Three days left.
Today, tomorrow, and pasado mañana.

Behind the scenes we’re selling off the last of our things, but we’re multitaskers (or actually really effective singletaskers full of muscle memory) - so we’re also thinking back on all the characters that have worked at Holler over the years.

Maybe they helped out a shift here or there, maybe they were an integral thread in the fabric of Holler, maybe they came back a couple of times like a boomerang - whatever the case we’ve had some incredible people work with us. Each adding some value, some artifact, some heirloom, some history that made the shops extra special over the years.

There are not enough words, pictures, or captions that can cover what this all was.

But hey - glad we had the experience. We got three days to have some fun and then is throwing a “Celebration of Life” on 4/29 and we’ll call it quits.

✌🏽 ❤️ & harmony

From 4-8p is Sal’s last shift at Holler (except for maybe the very last day when we gotta wrap everything up 🙃😶🫠).

He’s got one last chance to spend some time with this little gal we call Chocolate Holler. And, who knows what the future holds for him or for A Cup of Common Wealth.

If you want to chat, hear some of the lore, or find out more this is your chance.

When we lock the doors tonight only THREE MORE DAYS! 😭 😢

A little shout out to our tiny, but might espresso machine that could!

This gal has been pumping coffee out and steaming milk for some time for us. She’s been bedazzled with magnets over the years and she’s with us until Sunday. She’s closing the place down with us and has already found a new home.

After she finishes her duties at the shop this week, she’ll be moving to her new home. Happy for her and happy you will all get some more time with this lass.

See ya today 1-8p. Four more days.

Just looking back on some of the Ladies of the chocolate shop over the years.

We didn’t get all of them in these pictures. The list is full of a ridiculous amount of incredible characters that each brought something special to the shop over the years.

Memories upon memories upon memories full of humans that we’ll never forget, because each one left their mark in special ways.

Sunday is it folks! Hope to see you all for one last goodbye this week.

Georgetown, Thank You Thank You Thank You.

Yesterday was a blast, despite the sadness of it being our last day. Thank you to all who came out, not only yesterday, but this whole last week to support us. Thank you to all who have been regulars in some way or another for the last 2+ years. We can't begin to describe how those who have made us feel welcome and made us a part of their lives will remain in our hearts forever. This was a special chapter we won't forget, and while we hate to close it, we remain grateful for the people who made it Oh So special!

Keep supporting your local businesses and organizations (Shout out to Elite Barber, Meraki & Moon, Em & Me, Sweet Matriarch, Elizabeth's Village, Thai Garden, Desserts by Rebecca, Galvin's, Elmwood Stock Farm and soo many more).

This town is a special place. Thank you for having us, and if you're ever in Lexington near or we hope you'll come in even just to say Hello!

We've been overwhelmed with all the kind words over the last few days. Thank you all for making these last days so sweet even though it makes it that much harder as well.

Today Mike is working her last shift until 2:30 so swing by to give her a high five or hug and have her make you a final drink! She's been with us since the beginning of this store and we'll miss her jokes, fun facts, Astrology conversations, and passion to make the world a better place.

You can catch her killing it at Italx in Lexington going forward! We love you, Mike! Thanks for all you've done!

Dear Georgetown Family,

There's no easy way to say this, but we have made the decision to close our doors after this week. We didn't take this decision lightly and have been assessing, analyzing, and reviewing every aspect of this shop for a little while now and it led us to the decision that, for the sake of our staff and the company as a whole, it's time to bring this chapter to an end.

The last nearly 2.5 years have brought countless joys to us at this little shop. The relationships that have been built and memories that have been created will be things we hold onto for years to come. The loyalty and love of so many of you through thick and thin has been the reason we've held on, pushed forward, and been grateful we made this place home for even just a short amount of time.

Saturday will be our last day open, but we'll be here each day from 9am - 2:30pm with all the bells and whistles to hug, cry, laugh, dance, and sing with y'all.

Any tabs or Pay It Forwards remaining at the end of the time will automatically be transferred to the Lexington Chocolate Holler so they won't go to waste.

We love you all and we hope to be able to say goodbye in person this week and hopefully see many of you in Lexington in the future.

Huge shout out to our friends at Elmwood Stock Farm! They've been using our shop as one of their drop off locations for their CSA this summer and have even given our staff some fresh veggies as well! Their team is a ton of fun and we love any time they come in or call for a chocolate or coffee delivery. They're kind people who care a lot about the quality and ethics of their products. You can catch them at the farmers markets in Lexington or stop by their farm off of Paris Pike!

Today is a bit bittersweet as this much loved human, Evan Bentley, is breaking outta here to start a new job. Evan has been here for over two years, serving customers, dancing behind the bar, and making delicious baked goods and breakfast tacos at A Cup of Common Wealth in Lexington. He's been an integral part of this team and if you come by here much, you've definitely seen his face and maybe heard about his mad theatre and choreography skills. We love this guy a ton and will miss his presence in the shop, but we're excited for this next chapter for him. Swing by today until 5 to wish him well and let him make you one last drink or sammie!

This week marked the Autumn Equinox and beginning of Fall and, starting today, boy did that weather cooperate! Bring on the cozy sweaters and warm hats and hot beverages galore! One of our new menu items this season is our classic Chai, but with a twist - our favorite ingredient: Chocolate. With a chai concentrate brewed with love from Intelligentsia Coffee 's Kilogram Tea concoctions, milk of choice, some chocolate sauce and topped with cocoa powder, this drink does it all for these Fall vibes. Evan, known for his love for chai around here, is a pretty big fan if he does say so himself.

We're still not open, Fam, and that makes us super sad, especially going into this weekend, but we're hoping to have more information soon. Thank you for your continued patience!

We did want to remind you that the Festival of the Horse is this weekend, starting tonight from 4pm - 10pm, continuing tomorrow 11am - 10pm, and finishing up 11am to 5pm on Sunday. At 5pm, tomorrow, there will be a Toyota Grand Parade to pay tribute to First Responders and Veterans around the country in remembrance of 9/11's 20th anniversary. There's more information about the whole festival at festivalofthehorse.org.

We hope you can make it out, support our neighbors and local vendors (including Trace Deaton, our Artist this past summer)!

Hello Georgetown!

Unfortunately we've been dealing with some building issues this week that we were hoping would be sorted out by now but it's proving to be a bit more involved than initially thought. Until we can get it all squared away we won't be open but we promise to keep you up to date!

Thanks for being so flexible and understanding and if you are in Lexington, you can get some of your favorite drinks and treats at Chocolate Holler on Old Vine, A Cup of Common Wealth on Eastern Ave, or Cup on the corner of Winslow Ave and Limestone inside The Cornerstone.

Love to you all!
