From masa to mesa, our Colombian Beef Empanadas are made from scratch, just like they always have been. 🇨🇴

There’s a reason we’ve been the original empanada spot since 2013.

This is a third-generation family recipe, going all the way back to our Gage Park days, when Grandma would make 500+ empanadas at a time for weddings around Chicago in the ’90s.

Same recipe. Same tradition. Still made by hand.

The keyboard goes quiet when the hands are working. 👨‍🍳

Here’s a peek at what “from scratch” actually means at La Cocina.

Plantains being prepped. Colombian empanadas made by hand. Angus beef sliced in-house before a 3-day marinade. Fresh masa prepared for our sopes & gorditas. Poblano peppers fire-roasted in-house.

“From Scratch” isn’t just a slogan we slap on the menu. It’s how Abuela taught us to operate.

A lot happens in this kitchen before your plate ever hits the table.

🌶️This is that Peruvian flake 50 Cent was rapping about back in 2005...

Just kidding.😂 This is 75 pounds of imported Guajillo peppers from Peru. One of the many reasons our salsas, marinades, and slow-cooked meats are packed with bold, scratch made flavor.

Stop by and taste the difference.
