Health update….
Hello Sprinkles & Splits family!!
Glenn here…… So it’s been a couple of months and I wanted to share some news on next steps in my cancer journey.
Quick side note: We have been blessed with many followers since our last update so for those that don’t know, I (Glenn) have been fighting squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil/throat since November 2024.
We thought we had it beat last summer, but it came roaring back within weeks and it got pretty ugly. Luckily, immunotherapy has worked well and it’s shrinking quickly and we are hoping for clear margins by the end of the year. 🤞🏻
Back to the update:
On the cancer front, things have been progressing well with immunotherapy treatments. The cancer is not yet fully eradicated but has been shrinking with every scan, so hopefully within the next month or two I will get a clear report. With that being said, I had a PETScan this morning and will get the results Friday morning.
What has now risen to the top of priorities is severe “Trismus” (otherwise known as lockjaw) that I’ve been dealing with for well over a year now. This is not uncommon with the radiation I received and it’s done a number on my jaw bones, soft tissue, and most everything else on the left side of my neck/throat. Bottom line is I haven’t been able to open my mouth much more than a 1/2” over the past year, and it’s down to about a 1/4” now.
So this coming Monday I will be getting surgery at Prisma Richland to repair the joint. I’ll spare the details but next week will suck 🙂
The oral surgeon expects to get me to roughly 80/85% mobility with surgery and physical therapy, and I’ll take it!
With that being said, we will be closed Tuesday 10/13 and Saturday 10/17 as Lauren will be with me and make sure I follow all the doctor’s orders (whether I like it or not.)
Sprinkles and Splits WILL be open Wednesday, Thursday & Friday of next week. Lauren (when she can), Susan, Chloe and Dylan will take good care of you so please continue to support us!
I will obviously be out all of next week for recovery, but look forward to returning as soon as I can.
That’s about all for now, and I will update when I am up to it and have more to share.
Thanks for the continued prayers support and love!!
Glenn & Lauren
