🇺🇸Learn Our History: On July 26, 1775, the United States Postal Service was established, with Benjamin Franklin being named the first Postmaster General. Franklin, who had experience as the postmaster of Philadelphia, put
into place an impressive mail delivery system with routes going from Florida to Maine, in addition to service across the Atlantic to Great Britain.
📫American mail delivery has gone through many changes since 1775. The Post Office became an independent government agency in 1971 – as an independent establishment the USPS receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage and products.
💌Today, the postal service delivers more mail than any other post in the world - serving 163 million addresses in the country and handling millions of pieces of mail each day. Over 516,000 people are employed with the USPS. These individuals work at more than 31,000 different offices spread out over the entire country.

🚗1903: Horatio Nelson Jackson and Sewall Crocker competed the 1st automobile trip across the U.S., traveling from San Francisco to New York.
👨✈️1947: The Central Intelligence Agency was established when President Harry S. Truman signed the National Security Act.
