In August of 2003, a major fire tore through 507 State Street in Downtown Garland
The reported that 40 firefighters battled the blaze at "Sew What Embroidery"
The damage was so severe that much of the building had to come down.
More than 20 years later, that address has a very different story.
507 State Street is now the patio beer garden at Intrinsic.
Thousands of people have sat here with a beer, eaten BBQ, listened to live music, celebrated birthdays, watched their kids play, and made memories on a spot that could have easily just become an empty space downtown.
We love finding pieces of Downtown Garland history like this. Buildings change. Businesses come and go. But the history underneath them is still here.
Next time you're hanging out on our patio, you'll know a little more about what stood there before us.
