We are coordinating the 2nd annual Poker Run to raise funds for the Greater Ohio Bleeding Disorders Foundation (GOBDF) with raffles and prizes and it would be great to have your support!

For a little bit of background on why we are doing this, our son, Luther, was born with Hemophilia A, a bleeding disorder which impacts his ability to form blood clots. This disorder is not curable and he will live with it his entire life. There have been many advancements in medicine, but still the small bumps and bruises someone with normal factor 8 levels would brush off, could send him to the hospital for infusions. At just 4 years old, you can imagine how worrisome this can be for a parent. The medicines currently available are very expensive ($250,000 - $500,000 a year), which is tough to get approval for many insurance companies. We are raising money in hopes that research companies can create new [cheaper] medicines, and potentially a cure in the future! All proceeds raised will go toward The Greater Ohio Bleeding Disorders Foundation (GOBDF) and the 12th annual UNITE for Bleeding Disorders walk that will be held at the Columbus Zoo on Sunday, September 27th.

GOBDF is a non-profit organization and a vital resource for individuals in our community diagnosed with genetic bleeding disorders. GOBDF serves 52 counties in Central Ohio and Northern Ohio. Assistance and support are provided locally by GOBDF to individuals and families who deal with the hardships of genetic bleeding disorders daily.
