💜 A little taste of the tropics is joining the Bakes by Zia menu! 🌴

Introducing our new Ube Crinkle Cookies — beautifully purple, soft, chewy, and made with the wonderfully unique flavor of ube. 💜

If you’re new to ube, it’s a vibrant purple yam with a naturally sweet, slightly nutty, vanilla-like flavor. It’s especially loved in Filipino desserts and has found its way into everything from cakes and cookies to ice cream and other sweet treats.

Hailing from a tropical island ourselves, there’s something extra special about adding ube to our menu. 🌺 In Sri Lanka, we’re no strangers to enjoying purple yam and other tropical root vegetables in different ways — so taking that familiar tropical ingredient and turning it into a beautiful little cookie feels right at home at Bakes by Zia. 💜

🥋🖤 From white belt to black belt… what an incredible journey to celebrate! 🖤🥋

We were honored to create this custom cake to help celebrate such an amazing milestone!

This celebration featured a rich, moist chocolate cake layered with our delicious homemade strawberry compote filling, creating the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable achievement.

Designing this cake was so much fun, and knowing it was part of such a meaningful celebration made it even more special. Every custom order tells a different story, and this one was such a fun project to be part of! 🎓✨ We were asked to create a dessert collection for a 25-Year High School Reunion, bringing together meaningful details, school pride, and plenty of sweet memories into one coordinated set.

We recently had the pleasure of creating this custom order for a 25-Year High School Reunion—a beautifully coordinated dessert set featuring 24 handcrafted decorated sugar cookies and a 4-layer vanilla cake filled with our homemade strawberry compote.

This cookie collection is probably the most detailed and intricate set we’ve created to date, and while it certainly challenged us, we genuinely loved every minute of bringing each design to life. Every cookie was carefully planned, piped, and finished to capture the spirit of the reunion.

To complete the celebration, we designed the cake to perfectly complement the cookie set while incorporating the customer’s inspiration photos, creating one cohesive centerpiece for the event.

The best part? Hearing that everyone loved both the cookies and the cake! 🥹💕 Receiving feedback like that makes all the time, care, and attention to detail so worthwhile.

There’s something so special about being trusted to create desserts for milestone celebrations, and this Sweet 16 was one we absolutely loved being a part of! 💕

The birthday girl’s mom had a beautiful vision—a classic three-layer vanilla cake filled and frosted with our delicious strawberry buttercream, finished with elegant rosettes all around. 🌹🎂 Timeless, beautiful, and made with so much love.

But she had one more surprise up her sleeve… 🧁✨

Alongside the cake, she asked us to create matching mango cupcakes with a delicious mango filling, each decorated with sweet little sayings to make her daughter’s day even more memorable. We loved bringing this thoughtful idea to life and seeing everything come together as one beautiful celebration.

The best part? Hearing that they absolutely loved both the cake and the cupcakes! Moments like these are exactly why we do what we do.

🎉 Bakes by Zia is officially 1 year old! 🎂

What started as a dream in June 2025 has grown into something more beautiful than we ever imagined. Every order, every kind word, every event visit, and every recommendation has helped us reach this milestone.

🐝🌼 We’re Buzzing with Excitement! 🌼🐝

Bakes by Zia is thrilled to be returning to the Manassas Bee Festival this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM!

This will be our second time attending this wonderful event, and we couldn’t be more excited to be back. We had such a great time last year meeting so many amazing customers, fellow vendors, and families from our community.

We’ll be bringing all of our yummy handcrafted treats, freshly baked and ready for you to enjoy! Whether you’re a longtime BBZ supporter or discovering us for the first time, we’d love for you to stop by and say hello.
