Frankie Ragosta was born in Naples, Italy, on a small farm, to the humblest of beginnings. He grew up a country boy with an eye for quality produce and an outstanding palate. At the age of 10, Frankie left home for the bustling city of Rome. Hoping to find his way in the world, he accepted a position in a restaurant. It was here he discovered his passion for cooking and his love of city life that grew with him into adulthood.
Frankie worked tirelessly at his craft, and at the age of 17, he immigrated to New York City bringing his incredible recipes with him. Together with his wife, he cooked and cared for his community – growing enough vegetables to feed his neighborhood and preparing them in a way that nourished the soul with memories of home.
Inspired by his father’s legacy, and armed with some outstanding family recipes, Chef Joe Ragosta of Mildred’s, teamed up with Chef Bert Gill to bring you Frankie’s Italian Kitchen where old world Italian cooking comes together in a modern, casual setting.
