I can remember the first day Eugene from Atlanta Coffee Shops came to visit Meadowlark Coffee: a cold winter morning right when we first opened. I remember the excitement knowing he would come, that I would get to share a cup with him. I’ve been following his work for a while as he highlights and carves out a space for people who love coffee to be connected with others who share the same passion. Reading back over his landing page I can still feel the butterflies we felt when opening the shop. I can still feel the newness of the marble we put as our backsplash, the hope that each detail could somehow be savored by the people who chose to spend their time with us. After Eugene came to visit our shop it really sunk in just how much love you’ve brought to us in the time since we opened. Reading through the words he chose to write about us feel like such a gift because it so wonderfully encapsulates that time and having him back encourages me to see the way we have grown. Like this small nod to our love for the little touches: espresso in an cup served alongside Topo Chico and if you’re lucky our daughter might stir it for you — or maybe that’s just me?

We certainly have a lot to be thankful for every day and we are so happy you all chose to spend your time with us today letting us serve you. It felt like we got to see so many of the people we love: our every days, our once in a whiles, our friends from out of town. While we missed a lot of you, you all made today feel like a party in a big way. Our community has made this place so much brighter. While you’re spreading that cheer with the people you see, reach out to the people who may need a little extra love on days like today! Tomorrow (Black Friday) is 9-1 also!

Before having a shop, we were always looking for places to go on holidays before the festivities. It always felt so special and intimate to have a place to sit and have a quiet moment together before large gatherings. We will be open from 9-1 on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday to work the shop and make coffee and serve people we are so thankful to have in our lives. So let’s get caffeinated. If you’re looking to take a box of coffee to your gatherings that is an option, just give us a 24 hour heads up with a pickup time between 9-1 on Thanksgiving and we can make it happen.

If you ask us for recommendations of things to do in a new city our list will probably be mostly coffee shops and restaurants with a museum or playground sprinkled in.

When I was touring heavily with Family And Friends, we would get home from a few weeks on the road and I’d quickly get the bug to travel — even if only for breakfast or a fun dinner — with Sommer. I would work whatever shifts I was scheduled for and we would hit the road immediately after just to make it in time for our favorite dinner or we would wake up early to make sure we were in time to place our order before brunch ended. Often times asking directly after if we wanted to go to another coffee shop.

So when we were planning opening Meadowlark and telling people about it, the first question was always “another coffee shop?” As we were building it, we would frequently hear people walk by the sign and say “another coffee shop?” Our favorite question became a calling card for who we were: another coffee shop.

We are on the shoulders of giants here: long-standing shops, new-to-us shops, the restaurants who have been on the square through change after change. We aren’t “the other coffee shop,” we are proud to be another amongst a wonderful landscape of places that make our city home to so many.

We are so thrilled to get to celebrate our first anniversary of getting to serve y’all. We will be hosting a drawing on Sunday for a home brewing setup. Tickets will be sold ($2) all week long, we will be bringing in some of our favorite treats, releasing new merch, and showering you all with gratitude for helping us live out our dreams of having a coffee shop. We’d be nothing without you 🤍
