I haven’t really been able to find the words to convey what I’m feeling. I still have a lump in my throat. I watched all our hard work and my dreams crumble in front of me yesterday. I am devastated and my heart breaks for the tenants above that lost everything. Thankfully no one was injured! It absolutely sucks but I’m thankful it happened when it did and how it did. Just thinking about the tenants, the other business owners, my customers and my family being in there and what could have happened makes me sick to my stomach.
All of my equipment was in the building so we are back to square one after being so close. I won’t be able to bring the trailer out until I can replace what was lost which will cost around $10,200 and that’s just for a generator, espresso machine and grinder.. not including the time and money put into turning Hitchin’ Java into a storefront. I’m not sure the insurance process for that or how long that will take so please be patient with me.
I know I will find another spot but my heart hurts for the vision I had for this space and the community. I didn’t just wake up one day and think “oh let me try making fun drinks to make some fast cash”. It would be life changing if I was able to help financially support my family but Hitchin’ Java was never about making a bunch of money to me. It’s always been about community and everyone having someone. It has been a dream for about 8 years. This dream has gotten me through some of my darkest days. My husband Brent and I have put countless hours into the brand. I have poured my heart and soul into every detail; every drink is always made with love from the bottom of my heart and with great intention, and nothing in this brand is ever just thrown together.
THANK YOU all for the support and all the messages. It’s because of all of you that Hitchin’ Java is what it is today 💛
