Happy New Year to our Frye Island/Sebago Lake and Frye’s Leap Cafe Community! We hope that 2026 brings joy, health and prosperity to you all. For the Wagners, this year will be sending us on a new journey: namely, the journey of life after Frye’s Leap Cafe.
We first stood as owners at the doors of Frye’s Leap General Store and Cafe in the summer of 2012 - fourteen years ago! Armed with a staff of family and many employees from seasons past, we were enthusiastic and optimistic about what the future held for us. Admittedly, we also didn’t really know what we were in for. How could we? All we knew was that we had a dream of creating something that would be special for the Frye Island/Sebago Lake community.
With Dave having spent his entire career in a corporate leadership role, and Amy the previous 20 years as a yoga instructor, tie-dye guru and stay-at-home mom, we had a lot to learn. And learn we did! Over the next 14 years, we would come to adjust and refine our approaches to staffing, menu curation, merchandising, marketing, community involvement and more. We would also make dozens of adjustments and updates to the property, both outside and inside. And while now and then we would be met with pushback, by and large we were fortunate to be met with excitement, encouragement, appreciation, understanding, and what truly seemed to be an ever-growing community of FLC patrons.
